ivanwong1989 Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 (edited) Close topic, i think is my own skill issue in operating the awg9+jester. as well as prior expectations cause i was using tws in the f18 nicely. ================================================================================================= Scenario/Setup: SP mission with 1 Mig-29 AI, hot towards player ship, at 30kft Player ship starts at 20kft and hot towards enemy ship Player ship uses radar auto/tws auto Player ship observes radar track and f10 map of the real location of the enemy ship Bug Description: There seems to be an inaccurate track file present, or sometimes creating ghost contacts as well. No way to hold TWS track reliably to guide missile to terminal. Here's the track file: f14ghostcontactssingleplace.trk Edited September 3, 2022 by ivanwong1989
RustBelt Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Make the mission with the Mig’s jammer locked out. FC3 jamming is…..goofy, OP, and makes the AWG-9 do some stupid stuff as opposed to just not building a track.
ivanwong1989 Posted September 1, 2022 Author Posted September 1, 2022 I've tried it a few times more. I think it might not be a bug... i guess... Since the target is maneuvering, it might have got into doppler blindspot. Hmm. And at that moment the track becomes an extrapolated track. But then what I don't understand is, when the target got picked up again a moment later, why won't the extrapolated track become the newly picked up contact? I guess the question is, when a target track become and extrapolated track momentarily, is it basically a game over for that instance and that missile that is still in flight?

It depends. It coasts the trackfile for a short time and if the target reappears within a certain distance of the coasted trackfile then the track is transferred.
RustBelt Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Remember this is PRE pac-man level computer tech. The RIO does the actual thinking for the AWG-9.
captain_dalan Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 It may help if you post the mission as well, so we can experiment. Modules: FC3, Mirage 2000C, Harrier AV-8B NA, F-5, AJS-37 Viggen, F-14B, F-14A, Combined Arms, F/A-18C, F-16C, MiG-19P, F-86, MiG-15, FW-190A, Spitfire Mk IX, UH-1 Huey, Su-25, P-51PD, Caucasus map, Nevada map, Persian Gulf map, Marianas map, Syria Map, Super Carrier, Sinai map, Mosquito, P-51, AH-64 Apache, F4U Corsair, WWII Assets Pack
ivanwong1989 Posted September 3, 2022 Author Posted September 3, 2022 Closing topic as I think it is operator skill issue LOL. Im expecting too much performance from jester + awg9. Was thinking in terms of f18 radar that picks up stuff reliably in tws.
