Unable to destroy planes and helicopters on the ground

Hi guys, I'm unable to destroy planes and helicopters when they are on the ground.  They do get some damage when they get hit, but they rarely show as being destroyed, even after adding triggers such as "Explode Unit".  Anyone knows how to resolve this issue?
