DCS dedicated server Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter

Hey,

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me if a DCS server and other programs like Tacview and DCS+SRS would work on such a virtual server? Running on the Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter. The rent price is just very good, I can afford it. Thanks.

hello. i do not personally run an MP server in a hosted environment. the specs do not specifically say anything about Win Server 2012r2.

others have been doing it. keep in mind you can also rent a windows 10 instance to do this. perhaps cheaper.

Thanks, yeah, i'm aware about DCS requirements, but I read that it seems to work(see the link below). I would like to rent WIndows 10, but there is only Windows Server 2012,2016,2019,2022 Datacenter to choose from, already asked. I just want to make sure everything will work.

understood. your proposed hosting service likely does not have windows 10. though windows 10 as a service is a thing nowadays though with restrictions. i am fairly certain windows 2012r2 will work.

I missed that post about 2016 server.  It works like a charm according to the post. 10 eur per license is not a big deal. 2012 or 2016 one?

6 vCPU Cores RAM 16 GB RAM Storage 400 GB SSD Data Transfer 32 TB Traffic. and Windows Server license - 21 eur. Not bad for a small group?

One month's payment is a loss, but it's not too terrible. At least It would be possible to try .

Based on my working experience and DCS server admin, I can just say to avoid at all 2012R2 since it's now a really obsolete OS ( and potentially exposed to vulnerability )

DCS server, tacview, srs and all other staff related to a good DCS server, will works fine on Windows Server 2016 and later.
I'm currently using the Windows Server 2019 on my production server and it works like a charm with all DCS related stuff. I've tested also 2022 and all dcs things works, eve if I don't like some of the new settings panels, but it's just something "esthetic".

My suggestion is to grab a Windows Server 2019 or 2022
