Strange oil pressure behaviour during engine warmup.

Hello there

It seem that the Aug 24th patch, which brought unspecified tweaks to A-8 engine simulation, has caused a rather puzzling behaviour of oil pressure during warmup phase.

Even in moderate ambient temperature conditions, once the cold engine starts:

a) The pressure jumps to the top of the scale (fair enough, other tweaked warbirds show similar symptom now as well), but during subsequent warmup, it just stays there, and stays, and stays, and stays, and stays, even though the temperature slowly rises all the time, to and beyond minimum recommended value;

b) When the temp finally reaches 48-ish degrees THEN the pressure suddenly drops immediately down to 10 kg/cm2, which is within recommended range.

I find it rather strange really - in other DCS birds oil pressures and temps change smoothly and gradually (and so they do in areo engines I have practical experience with, even though these are only Rotax units).

Replay track attached below. Recorded in 2.7.18.30348, you can use time acceleration to fast forward through boring part to about 9th minute of the mission to see the pressure drop.

Cheers,

Art

Actually this behave is since module release as far as i remember. Old post tagged as "correct as it is"

Looks like oil pressure is controlled by additional valve which maintain very high pressure until engine reach certain temp then it is switched off so main pressure valve can take over.
