VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants
LAN: use a USB-C hub which has Ethernet port on it, as long as it is from the same router as the WiFi, pretend to connect using WiFi, works with either SA and VD. USB-C, works only with SA, plug in a USB 3.0 port between the headset and the computer. Have not tried the super expensive USB-C cable from Meta, but any USB 3 cable should be fine. tomcat_driver
How about via wifi 6? Has it been improved? I noticed there are a few beta patches of the official software in the making. What's the best latency like?
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants
I use LAN only and think USB 3 may be faster. Sorry can't help here. VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants -- this is how I fly. And you don't need to set the Pico 4 to use the "LAN", rather just connect to VD right away. Actually, it works even when the WiFi on the headset is off. 33 minutes ago, No1sonuk said: So is direct USB and SA better than your LAN setup with VD? Good question. I just try flying on SA + USB-C and here is what I find, please note I am comparing it with VD in OpenComposite: Good: The frame rate is better, may be it is due to the fact that I fly in 3084 x 3084; and Obviously, SA is free. Not so good: Image stuttering from time to time; Even with OpenComposite, the image is much softer; Objects and scenes further out are even softer! and Not to mention, the SA on PC some how needs Admin right to run, very suspicious. No1sonuk
Well this is just all stupidly confusing. So far, I get the best image quality using VD and my Wifi 5, but low frame rate and high latency. 4 hours ago, VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants said: And you don't need to set the Pico 4 to use the "LAN", rather just connect to VD right away. So just plug in the ethernet adaptor to the Pico 4 USB C port and it magically just works without any settings changes? Bearskin
So I just got DCS world running again without SteamVR, so for anyone who is interested, download open composite launcher, the link can be found on the openxr toolkit page under the step by step chapter. Extract it and open up opencomposite. Press switch to opencomposite. Start virtual desktop, then open the virtual desktop streamer icon on your taskbar. Then long click with the right vr controller on the virtual desktop streamer icon on the taskbar and a pop up should appear, click launch game, a pop up error will appear along with a window titled launch game. In this window go to your DCS world folder, then open the Bin folder and click the DCS world.exe. There is no need to download the openxr toolkit, just the open composite launcher. With the open composite launcher it stores all your games as you use them for the first time since installing opencomposite, so you have to go into configure and click each game to start with Opencomposite or steam, I have only got DCS world so far running without steam VR so the rest of my games I switch to Steam. propeler
Printed test version of face mask. Almost what I want. Could be lower even more 3-4mm. FoV increases SIGNIFICANTLY! I do not understand why original mask is so bad. Why not to make lo profile mask from very beginning. Need to redraw mask with lower profile on lower part of mask to produce more correct angle. In current edition it slightly turns headset upward.

No1sonuk
4 hours ago, tomcat_driver said: That's switch, no. You need a router to create a network. Not entirely accurate... I just CONFIRMED that the Pico 4, with this adapter CAN connect to a PC via a gigabit switch. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08Q36HB3G?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details In fact, my home network switch (Netgear GS108) is rated 1G and I had VD reporting "5 GHz | 1200 Mbs" with the headset's Wifi turned OFF. That switch is connected to my ISP router, but the home network is only connected to the switch. I'd be quite happy with extending that setup if I wasn't returning the Pico 4 because of other issues - Primarily image quality WRT a normal monitor, and motion sickness issues. Also, I prefer the head tracking setup and being able to use my mouse and keyboard.
tomcat_driver
Lol. Your whole network, in other words, is routed by a router and not the switch. A switch is a layer 2 device (datalink) while a router is a layer 3 (network).

No1sonuk
Anything that uses the same frequency band can interfere. With digital signals, that usually manifests itself as breaking up on audio, low fps on video, or lag/reduced speeds for data. Bear in mind you'll be streaming A LOT of data for the VR. If that's on 5GHz, you need to be sure your audio is on 2.4GHz (e.g. the aforementioned laggy Bluetooth).
propeler
GeekVR mask arrived. Pico is awesome with it! Excelent FOV. That's what I really see on DCS from neutral position after VR reset pressed. Green is thinner mask, pink - thicker one. There two of them in a set: Edited February 22, 2023 by propeler
