No matter what i try I cant get a good trackir setting. Has anyone got any advise of where I can get a setting that works well with TrackIR

hello. first config can be daunting. basically your head will not move more than 10 degrees either side of center. put the sensor on monitor top left of the monitor (same side as the head tracker part) work out the settings X Y Z independently of each other. so head up. head side to side. head forward and backward. i used this video way back when to help me.

i am also attaching my profile that you can try. it goes in %appdata%\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles

if you have questions, come back an i will help.

I would suggest to start with the yaw axis until you figured out how manipulating the curves affects the resulting motion.... and then, as Silverdevil suggested, do one axis by another.

Note the speed and smooth setting, that affects all curves simultaniously. A higher smooth setting gives higher input lag, but I would recommend a rather high setting at first for testing.
Speed is an factor that multiplies the curves that you edit. For testing I'd start with .1 and then go from there.

Most common curves for yaw are somewhat U-shaped. That gives a more steady head position when centered and accelerates when looking to the sides - so that you can turn your virtual head up to 180° without loosing side of your monitor.

For Pitch you may want to go with an asymmetric curve. Looking into your crotch has other needs than looking straight up in pursuit of a bandit.
Roll/Tilt is less important. I won't bother with it in the beginning. Lateral movement in the X-Y-Z axis is also less important (still useful though). Pitch and Yaw should be your main concerns at first.

Edit: There are some presets available from popular DCS-Youtubers or in the user-files. Sometimes a good starting point can help. You can fine tune from there. The default values of Trackir are pretty unresponsive for my taste (though there are also different presets).
