malarcky Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Is there any way or limitter config/option for the max fps on the menu, I am getting around 60-80 but some friends are getting around 140, its not lack of performance because ingame I get 120-160 fps.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 25, 2022 ED Team Posted October 25, 2022 You can limit frames with the example below, but it affects frame rate in the main menu and game. options.graphics.maxfps = 80 to your autoexec.cfg in your saved games DCS config folder. If you dont have one you can create one. Main menu FPS will be different depending on your system and settings, I wouldn't worry to much unless you are getting low frames in game. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Solution Hiob Posted October 25, 2022 Solution Posted October 25, 2022 (edited) I would recommend though, to leave this setting in DCS alone and limit the fps in the Nvidia Control Panel. I'm not quite sure how it works, but from what I observed - when the fps are in some way, shape or form limited, the Menu-fps match the ingame-fps (respectively the capped limit). However, when the fps are free, the menu-fps would sky-rocket (like in other games) and in that case, DCS catches them around 60 fps. Edit: That observation may be outdated though, I haven't paid particular close attention to that matter since tge latest update..... This was the solution, ingame limit with autoexec command did nothing, but if I limit on nvidia panel to 144 the menu goes up to 144 instead of 60, so smooth now, thanks.

That's a general "issue" or characteristic of the DCS engine. When the fps are too high (>180), they are capped (but DCS is kind of "over reacting"). Can happen in-game too. Though it is usually hard to get into those fps regimes. "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
