JetJake76 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 (edited) Hello, I did some tests of the new AI dogfight behavior, introduced in DCS 2.8. AI planes indeed behave more realisticly and do not enter those crazy loops defying gravity. However, in one dogfight senario, I had a dogfight in an F/A-18C against AI MiG-29A (Veteran difficulty). MiG-29 prooved to be a challenging opponent, but when I analyzed the Tacview track, I found the MiG could still keep about 8g for quite long time. I've uploaded the track here: Tacview-20221029-105145-DCS-F18vsMiG29.zip.acmi I'm not sure if it's a bug, maybe there actually are pilots who can survive such g-force I am only asking if it's possible with the real MiG-29. Shadow KT Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Did some runs against MiG-29 and F-16 on Ace and I am not seeing the same reactions Growling Sidewinder demonstrated in his videos from the AI. They did not react to one or two circle and just kept turning in the same direction. Is like... the full AI change in this patch, or has this been a partial implementation? 'Shadow' Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days

According to the changelist, AI of WW2 warbirds was not changed. Meanwhile, I had another crazy dogfight, this time against a Su-33, Enemy pilot did not do any crazy vertical loops. What he actually did, was crazy horizontal circles. Here is the trackfile: Tacview-20221029-191955-DCS-F18 vs Su33.zip.acmi From 00:05:20 - constantly pulls 8g and flies over 500 kts. The only option for me was to stay lower and do similar turns, at lower speed. I did not want to lose the sight on him. Fortunately, he made a mistake . Or he got "bingo fuel" alarm and decided to RTB.
captain_dalan Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Finally got the chance to run the updater last night. I flew some of my standard training missions, 70% internal fuel, veteran AI, sleek, guns only, against MiG-29, F-16 and F-15. Indeed, the infinite vertical loops have been traded for infinite horizontal loops, 400-500 knots, 8-9g constantly. Until the AI runs out of fuel. Also, most of my training missions were balanced for roughly equal time in burner both for human and AI participants. Now the AI runs out of fuel much faster. But the oddest thing is , now the AI flies at negative AoA while pulling positive g's from time to time when checked in tackview? I actually ran some AI VS AI tests as well, just to make sure, it's not player related.
