TZeer Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 AMD just came with the prices: RX 7900 XTX for $999 RX 7900 XT for $899 2
Mars Exulte Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 That's not TOO bad, beats the hell out of $1500. Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Dangerzone Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 That's a good start, but really means nothing if there's going to be high demand and a shortage, as prices will go up by the distributors or retailers like they have the last couple of years. I hope I'm wrong there. But even so, the other benefit is what appears to be true competition for NVIDIA - and competition in the market place is a good thing.
Mars Exulte Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) Eh, I don't expect crypto to bounce back like it has in the past. Too much has happened since then, and I think the marginal profitability now is going to keep demand for GPUs at more traditional levels. For the foreseeable future, at least. DirtyMike0330 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 I had 0 interest in upgrading my 3090 to the 4090, for multiple reasons, but for some reason I am seriously considering trying to grab one of these cards and then upgrading my 5800X3D to the Ryzen 7000X3D whenever that gets released. It would be my first ever all AMD system. Hopefully there will be some reviewers throwing out benchmarks soon and we can see some numbers versus the 3090 and 4090. Wali763 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) The 6800XT has 72CUs versus the 6900XTs 80CUs. Cost 649 vs 999. Rather big difference. Now the 7900XT has 84CUs versus the 7900XTXs 96CUs. Prices are 899 vs 999. Rather small difference. I do not like Nvidia for doing all kinds of shady things like launching a 4080 12GB, that is actually a 4070 and asking for a 400$ premium over the 3070. Luckily that model was cancelled. But AMD is not so much better. IMO the 7900XT should have been the 7800XT and cost 699. But they called it the 7900XT so they could charge more. This way the price of the 7900XTX seems even more reasonable. Still 999 or better 1200Euros in my country is way too expensive. I was planning to upgrade my 6800XT to one of those GPUS and even upgraded my PSU to a 1000W one to be prepared. Was a stupid decision since the 7900XT draws the same power as my 6800XT. But considering that DCS still is pretty much CPU-bound, not even a 4090TI/7950XTX will give you real 90fps for the G2 in most situations. So Id be still stuck at 45fps in OpenXR but could use higher visual settings, when Im already quite happy with my current settings. So until multithread gets finally implemented, I will wait. Its just a waste of money for me. But if we finally -with the CPU-bottleneck removed - could get to real 90fps, I guess Id swallow those 1200Euros too. Edited November 4, 2022 by Wali763
