F-14B V Su-27 ACM Guns Only Caucuses Instant Action Mission

Flying high/low yo-yo in trail. Gradually work your way up his five/seven o'clock. Pretty much aways get get a snapshot on him.

Secondly, 0.5 mach on the deck in a sustained turn. The AI will loft up like he is trying to pull a high yo-yo but then due to a bug/glitch of some sort in the logic will try to bug out entirely then come back into the fight.

Lastly, dash, instantaneous turn, and then dash. Rinse and repeat. Terrible idea for anything other than guns-only. However if you are just all about gunning the F-16 AI then it works...

To be honest all this terrible advice for anything but putting guns on the AI...but there you go.

I won't bet at the PSU. I also have this hickups on my machine VS the F-16 and it is almost everytime against that plane on this map. I've not only swapped my PSU but also my GFX Card. Next thing will be Board+CPU+RAM if it still hickups, then there is nothing left to do (I can sort out the cooling for sure, as you won't get more airflow than you get on a Fractal Torrent and I have a decent custom loop just for the CPU).

Did the same this week (got new GPU and PSU) so i'll see how things work out in time.

Here's another little demonstration. Mind you, I haven't practiced in well over a year, but few points to get across:

Part 1: Gunzo vs SU27. Always, always try to end the fight within 30 seconds. The sooner the better. It won't always work (q.e.d.), but always try. (Caucasus Quickstart Dogfight)

Part 2: Gunzo vs MiG29. If you cannot fly around the 1nm pole out of the bandit's ass, force him to cross your nose for snapshots. Forget about "the perfect shooting position". Just get into any shooting position, however you can. Use everything to your advantage, including terrain. (NTTR Quickstart Constant Peg Gen IV)

Part 3: Heaters vs MiG28. Separation vs no separation: you need to fly around the 1nm pole out of the bandit's ass (or basically the part that is looking at you) to get a good shot, both gunzo or heaters, but especially with heaters. Don't force the turn, if it puts you in a bad shooting position: compare 1st shot (no bueno) vs 2nd shot (bueno). (NTTR Quickstart Fox 2)

Part 4: Heaters vs MiG28. setup for a good separation from the merge, kill within 30 seconds, aka how it is done proper. (NTTR Quickstart Fox 2)

Corner speed is not always the best speed. But know how to get from slow to fast to slow quickly, when needed. Don't corner yourself in a speed range. A lot of folks seem to care about looking good or achieving this ideal kind of BFM, perfect turns, scissors this, yoyos that, yada. All I care is about shooting the guy as quick as I can, how it looks does not matter. Do what you have to, full stop. One thing however is very important, always important: try to keep your vector on the bandit, always, as best as you can. That's what that line in the canopy helps you with tremendously. Many don't do that. And so many folks I watch forget the most important thing: Squeeze. That. Trigger. Practice snapshots, don't wait for that perfect firing solution. Practice shooting blind, without lock, leading blind, without lock. Put pressure on your adversary, not on yourself. 🙂

@IronMike,

I'm still trying to get this down and I'm getting close, but do you think there is anyway to post a video again like you did but with the control input display {RIGHT CTRL-ENTER] on?  That way I can see your "fapping" and your throttle input.  I've gotten some success but I feel like I have to be in Zone V all the time to get a hit and that doesn't seem right.

Thanks.

With exceptions, full burners in BFM. Do not brake using your throttle, that is or can be a terrible mistake. You manage speed and AOA with your stick input primarily. There are times ofc where you want to also reduce your throttle, but these moments are rare (like avoiding an overshoot, though that, too, is better done with a maneuver than killing a source for your energy). That is the whole point of the "fapping" (or adjusting the pull of your stick), to manage your energy. You dont want to just slow down, but rather transform your speed into altitude or angles, which can then benefit you to shoot the bandit or defend him, etc.

It will unfortunately be a while till I find time again to make a vid, but I'll try to keep it in mind.

Good tips!  Thanks and thanks for your time.  I look forward to seeing the vid so I can see your control inputs when you do get the chance.  My appreciation in advance!
