chumpeagle Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) I'm new to the harrier (loving it) but am confused by the AFC. I have a couple of 2 way switches on my Warthog throttle configured - one to turn AFC On/Off and the other to turn Alt Hold On/Off. When I turn AFC off I get a master caution warning and can't turn it back on again without holding the reset down. This seems odd as I have intentionally switched it off so why do I need to reset it each time I do that. Is this just how it works (and I need to map a button to AFC Reset) or am I doing something wrong? chumpeagle Posted November 28, 2022 Author Posted November 28, 2022 I found somewhere else saying this is just expected so I will map my AFC off switch do also do a reset afterwards. 1 i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire

This works for me. I also have 2 switches with AFC reset instead of off mapped. It’s quirky at first, but becomes muscle memory quickly.
MadKreator Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I ended up mapping mine to regular push buttons to just toggle, that way it will turn on, then when turned off it goes to reset automatically. Same with alt/hold. It really screams at you when you don’t turn alt/hold off before afc too its an odd system for sure compared to other jets. Xpendable Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Yes, the caution on AFC off is common and expected. Harrier pilots get used to it. When you get the caution, you glance at the advisory panel and make sure it's only the AFC blinking and you hit the caution reset. Switching AFC to reset will also kill the caution, so that's what I do with a 3 way switch. I flip it to reset and then back to on or off.
