Hi, I am learning the basics of A2G on the Viper, just spent an hour watching some guides on YouTube, making some notes and a practic emission, but have run into some annoying issues I cant figure out which are disrupting my carefully planned practice!!

I am attempting to mark a ground target using the JHMCS, and hand it off to the TGP for attack using a GBU12. There is a bit of back and forth with displays and SOI's involved and in all of this, a couple of things happened. First, at some point, I lost the TV display on the TGP MFD.....the buttons around it worked, but screen was blank......what would have caused this and how do I get the display back? Second, I also lost the STRS page of the GBU12, and could not get that back from any of the available menu options....I thought SMS was the one, but this just showed the schematic of the stores and did not allow me to select the page where I get the options for bomb mode etc. I managed to get this back by cycling in and out of AG mode, but then this lost me the TGP page on the other screen and when I got it back, it was blank......why cant you easily return to the SMS page with the bomb options on it?

Finally, after I made the markpoint, and checking I had the correct mode for the bomb (CCRP as opposed to CCIP) I expected the TGP to slew to that markpoint, but it did not, it slewed nearby, by not where it should have ( according to the YT guides) ...why is that ?

The guides etc are good, but don't cover when you go off piste like this!!

PS, can you get the JHMC display to go over the cockpit, like in the Hornet?

Thanks!

Click on the button that is below the blank page and select a page and it should store the page above that button.

You can, if you dont finger around. In AA or AG master mode, SMS page will display the weapons selection page. In NAV mode or if you pressed the S-J or jettison page, then it will show the loadout schematics. To get back to weapons selection, deselect jettison or enter a AG or AA master mode.

Cursor Zero, press it. If you slew the TGP or any sensor around, it creates an offset. If you do not zero that offset, it will keep the offset until you zero it by pressing cursor zero.

Probably, check the JHMCS page on the DED for that.

Thanks for the quick reply! Obviously too much "fingering around" !!! 🤪Do you know why the TGP screen loses the TV display?

One more annoying thing I dont understand....after dropping one bomb, my JHMCS display has gone......Why?  and how do I get it back?

Thanks again!!

One thing I could think of is by masking, but I'm not sure if that's within your definition of losing the TV display. Can you attach a quick track or video?

Did you press and hold DMS down for about 1 second or longer? That toggles the JHMCS.

Thanks, defintely not masked as I was in a straight approach. It was as if the TGP had turned off, I tried pressing STBY on and off, but it did nothing. As I am not sure exactly what I did to make it happen, it may be tricky to save a track. I will try and re create! Found the cockpit and HUD blank options thx and almost certainly it was a DMS that turned off the JHMCS.....

You have been brilliant, thank you!

Also, many instructional vids don't mention it but right after you create a markpoint, press the MSEL-0 on the ICP. That will instantly make the markpoint the current steerpoint and save you some steps.
