Andrew u.k. Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Hi, Any help would really be appreciated. Dcs can run for 2-3 minutes and then crashes or it occasionally doesn't crash, I think it's fixed, I restart a miz and it crashes. 8 times out of 10 it crashes in 2-3 minutes. Benn flying with DCS for years and have never had this before. dcs.log dcs.log-20221128-211357.zip
Flappie Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Hi. You have a LOT of errors in your log caused by Scripts\Hooks\SRSExport.lua and Scripts\Hooks\SRSExportsrs_bck.lua. Rename your "Scripts\Export.lua" file to prevent DCS from loading it, then start DCS. Does it keep crashing? ---
Andrew u.k. Posted November 29, 2022 Author Posted November 29, 2022 Hi Flappie, Many thanks for the reply. Export Lua renamed and I'm afraid that did not fix it. I have also installed the stable version on a different drive with the Viggen as the only module installed and the same crash happens.
Flappie Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 OK. I see a "DX device removed" error right before the crash. It means DCS could not reach the GPU anymore. It can have various causes, and we need to find the right one. 2022-11-28 21:13:23.129 ERROR DX11BACKEND (Main): DX device removed. Please try these different solutions, one by one: Rename the "Saved Games\DCS..." folder (do NOT delete it). Run a DCS repair in "slow" mode. Set Windows power plan to "High performance" then turn everything to 100%. Disable Aorus Graphics Engine autoscanning (auto OC). Disable Asus GPU Tweak. Disable SSLR. If you use G-Sync: set NVIDIA G-Sync to "Fullscreen and Windowed"(in case DCS is set to windowed, and NVIDIA G-Sync to Fullscreen). Remove GPU overclocking (in NVIDIA Control Panel, click Help, then Debug mode). Remove RAM overclocking (in BIOS, disable XMP). Remove dust from CPU coooler. Change PSU. ---
Andrew u.k. Posted November 29, 2022 Author Posted November 29, 2022 Thank you, I'll try that this week. Sent from my SM-N986B using Tapatalk
Andrew u.k. Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 An update. The PC started crashing with MSFS2020 so from there I assumed that the CTD had nothing to do with DCS. The PC is currently with a Tech repair company and I'm hoping that they will get to the bottom of it. Many thanks for your help Flappie, I passed on your info above to them. 1
Solution Andrew u.k. Posted January 8, 2023 Author Solution Posted January 8, 2023 It was the graphics card
Flappie Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Thanks for your feedback, @Andrew u.k.. Sorry about your dead GPU. Enjoy the new one. ---
