When I try to press "\" to pull up the communication menu, nothing happens. I checked the key bindings and "\" is still bound to the communication menu. Any Idea what is going on?

on some keyboards the \ is actually not a \ but is OEM102 (as it is on mine)  or some other key under the covers, so i would go to the binding clear it and press the \ key and see what pops in ...

Do you have Viacom installed (even if you're not currently using it)?  Unless you've updated it since 2.8 that's likely the cause of your problem.  Uninstall or update it.

Are you trying to use it when in-flight? The Communication Menu using '\' is only available when you have WoW on the ground as it is for communicating with the ground crew.  Whenever you take off, it is no longer there.  Then, you should use the COMM 1 and COMM 2 binds.

I have the same problem. I press the COM switch on throttle. The display responds to UFC (triangle appears) but the communication menu does not appear. On F16 it works normally...

Pressing the COMM switch should not cause a triangle to appear in the UFC.  That should only appear either when you are transmitting or when you are receiving.  This seems like a binding issue.  Make sure you are binding to "COMM Switch - COMM 1" or "COMM Switch - COMM 2".

And if you have EVER used Viacomm (even if you're not currently using it) make sure it's completely uninstalled or that you're using the new open source version because it can cause this symptom.

Similar to rob10, if you use VAICOMPRO then you have to press it twice, sometimes. After it comes up it will work for a while with a single keypress. As far as only happening with the old non-OS version. I have the latest OS version and it did it regularly so I'm not so sure about that.

Other than that I've had no issues.
