GibSlash Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Hi Guys, new to this Forum, so be gentle....Ok...Big Fa18 driver, normally single player off-line......Looking to branch out there and engage with some fellow pilots.. My simpit is pretty much complete...Shout out to LooseCannon for the custom warthog plate and Kieran ( tekcreations ) for the fa18 usb controller...which happens to be the issue... I live in UK, so ordered this about 1 month ago, thought this would be plug n play....sure enough, plug it in, lights up green, shows in devices as FA18 tek Controller....and thats it.....shows in dcs as hid device, ( Well 2 hid devices tbh ) , but cant assign any buttons, dials,or anything to it as no switch, dial, button is shown....go to game controllers on Win 10...shows up as controller , but unable to test any button as whatever i touch, click, dial doesn't work.........And dont start me on DCSBIOS....I am a NOOB.... found it hard enough to install DCS....Am i Doing something wrong to get this USB panel To work with DCS? have reached out to TekCreations, but hoping maybe someone ,somewhere has had this issue too..... Panel is just an expensive Green thing....anyone please?
firefox121 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) Don't know this product , but here there is some info could be useful , it appears to be some kind of push trick buttons to be detected as an usb device, if you already saw this sorry, my intention is to help https://tekcreations.space/f18-left-rear-controller-instructions/ Also comes with an info to use it with dcs bios, but IMHO , I always get rid of dcs bios as I fly on VR and think it eats cpu cycles that I need for my headmounted device, at least it happens with winwing software. Also the most obvious question, I see in your screenshot that the fields to assign keystrokes are well , only see two grey bands that are not bindables. Have you tried to double click on the line and then assign a button press to see if dcs is receiving inputs from the device? Sometimes we forgot the most obvious thing....at least it happens to myself Hope this helps Edited January 15, 2023 by firefox121 Intel i9 10850k - MSI Tomahawk 490z - 64 GB DDR4 3000 - HP Reverb G2 - MSI optix Mag321curv 4k monitor - MSI RTX 3080ti - Winwing Orion Throttle base plus F18 stick
GibSlash Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Appreciate the reply, thank you.. have received a reply from the guy at tekcreations, whom has given me the button configuration to either bios or HID mode and also a firmware patch to update.... so will have a go later today... Did try double clicking, and assigning a button/ key... the drop down box gives me selections listed as 1 on , 10 off 100 on...2 on, 20 off 200 on... and so on , but no button responds... Will update you later today once I've tried these other methods.... again, appreciate the help...
Sacarino111 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Hi. Also, try to plug it trough a powered USB, try different USB (2.0-3.0) and maybe you had to install drivers, I don't know... For the BIOS thing, I use it lo light some LEDs, and it is not that complicated. The biggest problem I see with this device trough BIOS is that not all modules are suported, AFAIK. For the rest. let's hope the new firmware and the config will work. Saludos. Saca111
GibSlash Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Cheers for all your input.... spoke to Kieron today, huge shout out, he's from TekCreations... super helpful, gave up a couple of hours of his time , with help from discord he managed to get it up and running..... transpires it doesn't like rgb.... I had Icue running in background and this for some reason kept blocking the port for communications throwing up error 5 and 10 codes.... disabled ICue and NZXt software, and its ALIVE.... not sure the exact problem, but disabled them now on start up and this unit is working..... As the pain I am, this unit is now running as a HID device, allowing me to configure switches , dials etc.... For me, this is easier to get my head around than DCSBIOS... that just scares me.... Happy days..... The quality is fantastic and really adds extra depth to the sim.... highly recommend....https://TekCreations.space Thanks all for your comments and input...appreciated.. 1
