Open xr tool kit is working but if you have motion reprojection forced on you will get a crash.

If it is set to auto or off there is no crash

try disabling openxr tool kit or using its safe mode as a work around

We are trying to find a fix for this currently

Same here - did you start a thread about it ?

The game boots the first few seconds, I have 2-3 seconds on the WMR, and then my Reverb G2 only shows black screen with white dots

Very same for me with a reverb G1.

DCS stops a few second after launch.

Retroprojection does not affect. Only safe mode or disableling the took kit works.

I have a G1 and the toolkit works (without reprojection) , are you using turbo mode?

When I switched to safe mode, all option in openXR tool kit are disable. I checked again that retroprojection is off in OpenXR and in tool kit options. Does not chnage behavior.

So, i guess just the tool kit enabled that crashes at dcs at launch.

I also deactivated all third party sofware launch like openkneeboard and voice attack.

It's not enough to use Safe mode to "check" the settings. As explained in the troubleshooting guide on OpenXR Toolkit website, Safe mode just _does not load any settings_. So of course things like reprojection will appear off while in Safe mode. But if your previously saved settings have it on, the moment you disable Safe mode, these settings are loaded again.

What you need to do instead is use Safe mode to Restore Defaults from the Menu tab. Don't forget to Confirm.

Also, you want to make sure that in OpenXR Tools for WMR (if you have it installed), Motion reprojection is set to Disabled. Because by default, OpenXR Toolkit will just passthrough that setting from OpenXR Tools for WMR.

I have no outstanding reports of crashes related to OpenXR Toolkit with yesterday's OpenBeta update, as long as both Motion Reprojection and Turbo are left off. All people who reported issues had them resolved after Restore Default from Safe Mode, then staying away from Motion Reprojection and Turbo.

So I think the 2 recommendations above should resolve your issue.

My methodology to get it all working was as follows: -

  1. Ensure that reprojection is set to off in the openxr tools desktop app.
  2. Enable openxr toolkit safe mode from the companion app.
  3. Start up DCS.
  4. Enter the openxr toolkit ingame menu and navigate to the tab with restore defaults on it, do that.
  5. Disable safe mode from the companion app.
  6. Restart DCS.
  7. Enable whichever settings you want apart from reprojection and turbo mode for now as they're currently bugged by the new DCS code.

Typically beaten by @mbucchia 😄

It was indeed the right thing to do. Thx !

An ok it is writen in the troubleshooting section but, for me (non native english speaker and not a software expert) this is totally unclear:

Enabling safe mode

You may then either:

  • Reset all the settings.

  • Change your settings to avoid the problem. Note that in safe mode, settings are not loaded, but the modified settings are still stored. You may need to toggle a setting on/off a few times to make sure the new value is saved before exiting Safe mode.

If if was explained just the way you did : "run in safe mode and restore default settings and be sure to confirm " that would be quite enough.

The "Reset all settings" bit is a clickable link that takes you to a section that has screenshot showing the exact menu entry to look for:

Hi,

Can anyone provide some guidance on how to get OpenXR Toolkit to work with DCS stand alone and Oculus (Rift S). I cannot get the openxr toolkit menu to showup. I tried the Skatezilla DCS Updater Utility to force it to SteamVR but it's not working.

Thanks

You need to force OpenXR not SteamVR (unless you are using OpenComposite). You cannot do it via Skatezilla afaik. See the pinned post on the forum about OpenBeta OpenXR support.

I was using OpenComposite but it wasn't working with OpenXR Toolkit. I forced it through the .exe and it is working now

Thanks a lot!
