DECLARE - auto transmit / special options setting

My wish is implementation of a new Special Options setting.

If player locks contacts at BVR range it would automatically trigger a DECLARE radio call to the nearest EW or AWACS unit (if present in the mission)

That would be like "cheating" or if the F1 would have an IFF...

Bind the command "Declare" to a HOTAS button.

No. Not at all. Why would it be cheating?

It’s just like auto start/stop, pre-aligned ins and other quality of life features. It saves a button on the joystick (or digging through the radio menu)) There is still a delay between asking for a Declare and getting the answer. The IFF still happens over the radio with EW or AWACS.

No radio comms = no IFF

You already can have this, by binding the "Declare" command to a button. You want to have a nearly automatic IFF feature, so that you don't have to do anything. That's not a quality of life feature.

Even better, get VoiceAttack now that VAICOM is free, and speak the command. emoji16.png

Exactly. Emphasis is on nearly. Why would pushing a button make a difference? It is a quality of life feature in the same way autostart/autostop and pre-aligned ins is. Or the ability to remove the radar glareshield. Never flown like that IRL. But that does not count as a type of cheat to get better visibility?

Just asking for a quality of life option. Nothing more. Wouldn’t make much difference in terms of gameplay, except the need to manually declare every contact.

Pushing a button, or speaking via Viacom is at least an action. Your wish to have this minimal effort be automated is pure laziness and has nothing to do with quality of life. It's the same as I want the gear to be raised automatically after takeoff. Why not? It's also quality of life...

You won't convince me and I won't convince you, so I won't discuss this topic any further, because it won't lead anywhere.

You have to bring up the comms menu, and then select AWACS.
To bind it to your HOTAS, you need to do some trickery/macro.
Like I wrote above, I use VoiceAttack with VAICOM.

Cheers!
