FVMAD Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Being a big fan of BS, and a skilled 3d modeler/animator (3ds max - 9 years), I was wondering if ED could use any help on the upcoming modules? I'm sure there's plenty of tallent out there in the community that would like to input on the project... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=7689 There's a list of 3d models which ED needs for DCS project.
zazz Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 I'd be glad to undertake any of those models, please give me some specific guidelines for the model creation - particularly poly count, required output format, anything else i need to know, and, if possible, a sourse for schematics (top-side-front view). If you can provide me with the above - you'll have any of those models very soon. Let me know which you'd like me to start out on, and I'll get on it
nemises Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Zazz, Also have a look at this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37135 the very talentted SimMod team are helping ED out with improving textures and modelling in greater detail, and also, are developing an entire new zone for the A10 module. They are specifically looking for a Texture artist and UV unwrapper, but , I'm sure they are also just as glad to hear from a talented modeller and animator!
FVMAD Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Contact Acgaen about model requirements and priority. About blueprints post here, we'll give what we got.
zazz Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Zazz, Also have a look at this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37135 They are specifically looking for a Texture artist and UV unwrapper To be honest, while I am good at UVW mapping, I hate doing it with a fiery passion, hehehe, as opposed to modeling - which I love with the same degree of passion. With the above mentioned - I'm pretty unlikely to touch textures unless there is money involved (not to sound pompous or anything) - whereas models - I would gladly create just for personal enjoyment. Then again it would be wrong of me not to unwrap the models I personally create, so that's something, i guess....
JaNk0 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 We got some talented texture developers here also ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 darn we would love to get a skilled uv unwrapper artist. But nice to know you have plenty of experience in 3d models zazz. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zazz Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Hmm... damn, you guys don't have anyone who unwraps? I suppose I could unwrap a model or two...
nemises Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I rekon its kinda like rigging..some people love doing it..some people cannot stand to be in the same room with it. I never really found an agreement with texture / shader development, and UV unwrapping for poly's and subd's, but the same as you zazz, I love(d) modelling (high res subd to be sure, but still), and rigging. Animating and texturing ?...hmm..sounds like you need artistic talent!
Grimes Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I've yet to come across someone who loves all aspects of 3d art. 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. zazz Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 I've yet to come across someone who loves all aspects of 3d art. I doubt you ever will... 3d encompasses such a broad range of aspects... I love 3d - thats for sure, and I have all the bases covered - from animation to rigging to mapping, materials, lighting, particles and so fourth - but i just can't imagine that anyone could love all those aspects equally. I mean, modeling is an art, unwrapping - just a procedure, and sometimes a rather tedious one. I might have expressed myself a bit harshely about it in my earlier posts, but one thing for sure - while modeling is my passion, uvw mapping is just a middle step between that and the final render. Anyhow, yea, if there are finished models out there that need unwrapping - pm me and we'll make it happen
Mispunt Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I guess I am one of those that actually don't mind unwrapping (sadly I don't really have the time to help with mods). I enjoy both modelling and texturing and the better the unwrap the more you get out of your textures. Can't stand to unwrap someone else's model though. ;)
