boomer92688 Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 This is by no means "game breaking," but in Mission 1 I was dinged because I "Left the airspace of the range." I looked through the briefing PDF as well as the in game briefing and I don't see the actual range area marked anywhere. Did I miss it or is it something that needs to be covered / added? I can think of two possible places where it may have happened: 1.) Continuing on straight for too long while reestablishing speed and angels 2.) I deviated from the route on the way back to Nellis but BEFORE Stuckey to hit up the tanker since 1300 lbs wasn't likely going to take me 100 miles. I was still able to complete the mission with a passing grade, but was surprised to see this since I didn't see it briefed or covered anywhere.
Solution Reflected Posted January 31, 2023 Solution Posted January 31, 2023 The boundaries of the range are visible on all 3 in-game maps, as well as your kneeboard. Also, Paco specifically told you that Stuckey's would be the bullseye for today. Staying within the boundaries of the range you checked in to for the exercise is not spelled out for the student. You are the guy with the stick and throttle, your HSI pointing at Stuckeys, displaying the distance too. Military flying comes with a lot of multitasking It's easy to get too concentrated on the task at hand and get distracted from other things that you're supposed to do/ check. This will be true for the rest of the campaign. But where did you find tankers? There aren't supposed to be any in that mission. EDIT: Wait, now I see. boomer92688 Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 Sounds like a whole lot of git gud needed on my part! Absolutely love this campaign. The immersion is next level. I managed to find Texaco pretty much on my flight path haha and hooked up on fumes. I’m sure I would have had plenty of fuel if I had minded the range boundaries. Looking at it now I just carried on way too far away which led to an overly long flight home. 1 1
PluckyUnderdog Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Jesus wept. What a learning curve. Managed my fuel (or so I thought) and got to Nellis with 400lbs left couldn't even do the carrier break landing. Had to just do a straight in approach and landing. Below average grade, but to be honest I'm just made up to have gotten through the mission. The campaign is so well made, that the fact it's so damned difficult is actually part of the enjoyment. It makes you want to get better. 1 i7 12700, 3070ti, 64GB Orion 2 F16EX grip and throttle, Thrustmaster TPR pedals
