Shibbyland Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Please add AI such as exists in the Mi-24, the AH-64 and the Tomcat. It doesn't need to be able to do a lot but it does need to be able to do some basic tasks. 1. An AI pilot to at least maintain level flight while a human navigator tunes the receiver for navigation 2. An AI navigator that can tune frequencies and feather engines. I'm not sure what a Mosquito navigator's full duties were but it is unusual in a multi crew aircraft for the Pilot flying to also be the one operating feathering and fuel controls (particularly when they're behind you). Having a command option to direct your Navigator to secure an engine would be immensely helpful when you're taking fire (or on fire). Haven't bought the Mosquito yet but having trialed it twice in the warbird department it may be my favorite aircraft or at least a close second to the P-47. The Mossie has such a fantastic mission set. 3

Mav87th Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Navigator calls up magnetic heading and time in min:sec to next waypoint en route. Can give updates on this if asked. tune radios
Bozon Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Some examples for what the Navigator should be able to do that will make him come alive, and without any fancy AI needed: Calls speed on takeoff run and safety speed reached (Reflected implemented such a thing in his campaign). Warns when undercarriage is still lowered and the speed is too high. Same for the flaps. Calls fuel in current tank reached 25% and 5 gallons (“empty”). Calls visible damage: “port engine on fire”, “port engine smoking”, “leaking fuel”, “leaking coolant”, etc. Warns when gyro compass deviates too much from the RI magnetic compass (at level flight). Upon request: Give heading and distance to home base. Upon request: Report total fuel left (gallons) and estimated flight time at current conditions. Upon request: estimate wind direction and velocity. Upon request: report current ground speed. Upon request: report bearing from radio beacon by RDF (if received on radio). 1 “Mosquitoes fly, but flies don’t Mosquito” :pilotfly: - Geoffrey de Havilland. ... well, he could have said it!
