VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 While Ka-50III and other fixed-wings, tested so far, are, put it this way, able to finally loaded, Apache, however, is consistently crashes before getting to cockpit. Other VR access methods, however, are fine. Enclosed is an example.dcs.logdcs.log-20230207-094333.zip I Fly, Therefore I Am. dmatt76 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) I had the same problem but there is a solution. You have to set textures to medium or low - it crashes on HIGH and only the Apache. Must be something wrong with Apache's cockpit hi-res textures from ED side... Edited February 7, 2023 by dmatt76 1
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) I think I have set the texture to medium already...let me make it lower... VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 Update: try set the Texture to low, it still happens and some how, it seems to happen only to Apache so far with Pico4. I need to try my luck with Quest2 next. I Fly, Therefore I Am. One cannot go around not saying "Thank you" every time these days, can't you? VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 (edited) Update: Change the page file to a fixed 32768MB in size. Run Clean and Repair. No mods, no shaders. Clear all the contents in fxo and metashader2 manually. After 6 crashes or so (first first one is always before the load progress bar), then, the game constantly crashes at the "Spawn Object" point. dcs.log-20230208-180048.zipdcs.log Edited February 8, 2023 by VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants I Fly, Therefore I Am. VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 Additional info: in Pico4, both Oculus runtime and SteamVR, all running via VD, work perfectly with the Apache and both are very consistently suffer no crashes whatever mods I throw at them. The old OpenComposite "mod" used to run great with little to no crash, too. Only this combination Pico4 + VD + SteamVR + OpenXR suffers. 3 more things are very consistent in OpenXR here: 1. After clearing out fxo and metashader2, OpenXR always crashes once it switches to VR, can't even get to the loading progression bar. But after another 2 or 3 crashes, I can get to the main menu. 2. When the OpenXR "mode" crashes, more often than not the SteamVR also crashes. Sometime, Steam has a dialogue box claiming SteamVR crashed last time and asked if I would like to retry, even though the SteamVR client is still out there running! 3. Lastly, after OpenXR crashed but SteamVR is still running, closing the SteamVR and the icon in the system tray, the Pico4 is still in the SteamVR mode... I am not sure which part of the system, or a combination of them, is causing the crashes. I Fly, Therefore I Am. One cannot go around not saying "Thank you" every time these days, can't you?
