JZF Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Good morning, everyone, I bought the F-18 recently and tried to take off from the aircraft carrier through the training module, I followed all the instructions until the final stage with the plane ready to take off from the catapult, however when I put the throttle on maximum the plane simply does not take off, it stays locked in place...could someone explain why and how to solve this problem? Thanks
unlikely_spider Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Did you salute? 1 Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1
rob10 Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Bind a button or use the default key for the "pilot salute" option. They won't launch you until you salute to indicate you are ready to be fired from the catapult. 1
JZF Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Thanks a lot! I succeeded in being launched from the aircraft carrier but after being launched, even with the throttle on maximum, I can't increase the speed, the plane loses speed more and more and ends up falling into the sea...did I do something wrong or is it a bug? Thanks
Yoda967 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) @JZF Check trim. If you just press the TO trim button on the left console, the jet will set trim to 12 degrees and that's not enough for a carrier takeoff. Trim should be set between 15-17 degrees for a carrier takeoff. (It's been so long, I can't remember if the training mission tells you this.) I'd also make sure that you're getting maximum power from the engines. Make sure your controller is properly set up. In addition to the training missions, I highly recommend getting a copy of Chuck's guide for the FA-18C here: https://chucksguides.com/aircraft/dcs/fa-18c/ Edited March 1, 2023 by Yoda967 Very Respectfully, Kurt "Yoda" Kalbfleisch San Diego, California "In my private manual I firmly believed the only time there was too much fuel aboard any aircraft was if it was fire." --Ernest K. CBStu Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 In most of the missions I fly when I get to the catapult at some point close to being launched I get a popup notice to check trim. Usualy putting in 3 button pushes and the notice goes away.
Captain Chuck Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 You didn't salute did you.....! I think default is "Control S"............ Look it up under "Options". .................Ya gotta salute Ryzen 7 7800; GTX 4070; 32 GB RAM; Monitor 27" 1440p
alboon2000 Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I had the same problem. The training mission hasn't been updated, nobody tells you to salute.
CBStu Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Over the last few weeks I have to salute twice to get launched. A bug in the new stable version?
Ladan Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 You need to salute first. Bind a button or key to do this, then you should be good to go. On 2/24/2023 at 4:50 AM, JZF said: Thanks a lot! Thanks Close your wheels, your hook and flaps. Those cause the plane to be pulled down.
