AIM9M potential suicide missile?

Recently some of my probably less well aimed or at too great range fired Sidewinders have once killed me from behind (some 10 secs after firing the missile and seeing it rushing off into the distance, climbing, I went from subsonic speed to afterburner just after launch) and in some other instances I saw the missile just behind me on the F10 map while I maintained altitude and my subsonic speed. Am I using the missile improper or is the missile having problems? In all instances I fired the missile from the HB F14, some (including the suicide) in SP, some in MP.

Thanks in advance.

Please provide a short SP track showing your issue. That's the only way for us to know the cause of the issue.

Unfortunately I don't yet have trackfiles of these incidents. I just tried to replicate it but more then just different behaviour under the same circumstances (no target at all in sight or available), one missile went up high whilst the other went pretty much straight ahead. I'll see that I make a trk file soon.

I've been thinking about the me being shut down shortly after firing the Sidewinder, I think I might have ripped the wings off of the plane rather then passing the missile. Just after turning on the afterburners I pulled the stick back really hard, this is shown on YouTube to be capable of ripping the wings off. The other incidents where I passed the missile the missile was most likely near hitting the ground while I was still up high in the air. The missile simple ran out of speed and was dropping out of the sky. I tried to mark this is solved, hopefully that worked as intended

I just recently came back to playing DCS and figured that the AIM-9M on VSN AJS-37 outer wing stations perform an instant selfkill by exploding right off the rail.
Any other weapon on any other station works fine.

Not complaining as the VSN Viggen comes for free, just saying because "AIM-9M selkill" got me here.

Cheers!
Mike
