markom Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Most aircraft I've flown (either virtually or irl) have autopilot function that sets the HDG bug on HSI to the current a/c heading. Is there such a thing in Hornet? I've tried what I believed were the obvious clicks and holds, but couldn't find it.

Is there such a thing in Hornet? Nope, you have to preselect it before engaging the HSEL. Although it will maintain the current heading if you press A/P > ON/OFF with the bank angle less than 5 deg. In addition to "click and hold", you can hold the switch until HSEL or CSEL apper on the UFC (depending if you wish to set heading or course); at that poinr you can input the desired heading/course using the numpad on the UFC and confirm with ENTER.

Yeah, was I knew, but was looking for a slightly different behavior, which... 4 hours ago, Minsky said: Although it will maintain the current heading if you press A/P > ON/OFF with the bank angle less than 5 deg. ... this may be close-enough to to be useful! Fresh Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Note that the HSI shows track up, not heading up. You'll see a thin line where the nose is pointing...
