lefuneste01 Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Hello, big thanks for this campaign. You did it well ! Very immersive, nice usage of radio and dialogues. All missions seems so well made, you are in a war and so you can not do what you want. So you need to contact the good frequencies to be allowed to do what you have to do. But you put the help when needed, so you always know what to do. Plus the great briefings and kneepads...and of course the unexpected events ! One of the best campaign I bought. I'm on mission 5 now. I nearly never finished one mission at the first time, they may be quite long, but as replays are working well now that's not an issue. You make me learn the AV8B more and more with every mission. Only two points: It's a bit frustrating to not takeof with yout wingman iand have to rejoin him/her, but I imagine it is linked to your choice of using only part of the airbase ? I understood your choice for JTAC, but it's too bad there is no feature to allow you to send us target by DL...Not that I do not like create waypoints, but it should have been also a feature to practice. Intel i5 10400K @4.8 GHz, 3080ti, 32 GB RAM, Varjo Areo. I spend my time making 3dmigoto VR mods for BoS and DCS instead of flying, see https://www.patreon.com/lefuneste

Hi, thanks for the thoughts! You are correct, the choice of FOB Juliet + FOBS later in the campaign prevent the AI using them for takeoff/landings - just no way the AI Harrier can handle them unfortunately. And Datalink with JTACs is again a DCS limitation, which is a shame. Both choices were compromises, but I think more is gained then lost in both cases. 1
ElectricFox Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Just finished Kerman campaign with most of the missions at 100% complete. Only managed to complete two missions at 100% first try, and got several more at 75% to 90% complete first try, so would say that you set the difficulty very well (for me at least). Voice acting, and [briefing/kneepad/SPINS/Scoring/manual] materials were really good. The background and story was really engaging. A very wide range of harrier-ing was covered making this a good campaign to learn more about the jet. I recommend this campaign to anyone considering giving it a go. Spoiler Praise I really liked the mission taxiing with the inbound scuds and patriots firing off to the sound of sirens, that was a really nice touch. Also liked the fueling trucks driving off from in front of me at the start of one of the missions. It was nice to have to rely on the DMT on some missions to up the difficulty in a realistic way. Comments The dialogue between Mike-Mike and Ein-Stein was really nice, especially the difference in their views. It would have been nice to have some Noble/Ein-Stein interaction with their polar opposite viewpoints, but I guess you can only ask so much of your Mrs! It would have been nice to have finished on a "free flight" mission from Juliet to Tarawa with credits rolling, similar to Sky Warrior campaign, but that's probably just personal taste. Bugs? I found the cluster bomb missions a bit frustrating, because I can't get them to work (especially in auto/ccrp). Maybe I'm just a bit rubbish, or maybe they're a bit bugged as some people alude to. Encountered a couple of missions where Ein-Stein would not engage, and bummed about the sky for 10-15 minutes before I engaged myself. I probably said something to upset him. The last mission, he engaged the warehouse with 2 pipes with bombs, but would not engage any of the troops afterwards. The mission before that, he wouldn't drop a bomb on the building right at the start of the mission. Comments and bugs is just for feedback - nothing in there detracted from an excellent campaign. 2

Namonid_2020 Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 One of the best campaign I have ever flown/bought. CONGRAT! And true, the Harrier II is my absolute favourite from modern jets. 1

DimSim Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Just finished the AV-8B Kerman Campaign and really enjoyed it. It is clear a lot of effort and care was put into this campaign. Here's some feedback... Appreciated many of the design choices... Really really liked the ability to successfully fail a mission. That is, complete the mission and move on, while actually failing the objective/s. Liked the option for more cockpit chatter, even if not realistic. Liked the option for short landings instead of vertical, and nice to be off the Tarawa for a change. Impressed by the documentation, much of which was useful. Liked the relatively short travel times and reasonable mission times, and even the region chosen. I never found flying to objectives boring and made minimal use of accelerated time. Liked the choice of asking my wingman to attack mission objectives, particularly if I failed or was out of ammo. Liked no forced A2A refueling. As a fan of Baltic Dragon's campaigns, this was very similar in both content and quality. So I'd recommend this to BD fans. Wingman AI was a big hit and miss, literally. Sometimes the wingman would circle endlessly with bombs remaining, as if unable to line up the shot within parameters. Other-times it seemed a timeout would occur and pretend the AI did something useful. I don't recall the mission number, if this is a bug or omission. As a casual player, campaigns to me, are a bit like interactive movies. I appreciate it when I, the player, can participate more or less depending on my skill, preferences and available time. 2

Sounds like an AI bug, but the backup triggers kicked in to compensate and make sure the mission still progressed. 1
nEYEnS Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 (edited) To Ground Pounder Sims, Big thanks for the Kerman Campaign! I fly DCS since the very beginning and this is by far the best campaign I ever flew. I played it two times because it's that good. I would recommend to others to buy and learn the Harrier just so that they could fly the Kerman campaign. It's so realistic and immersive. I would not believe it if I had not seen it myself. Thank you again! Edited June 25, 2024 by nEYEnS 2

RimanDk Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Hey, @ChillNG, just finished it as well and have come to echo what everybody else has said. Just a tremendous time all around! Loved it! Like others before me, I went through Steep's exploits in the A-10 before making the jump over to this. Skipped the Syria ones for now, as I wanted to conclude the PG campaigns as one cohesive story arc. The A-10 campaign is long and grandiose. It feels like a saga. The more formal tone of the briefing material, complete with the accompanying YT videos, do a lot to set a grand stage. The Kerman campaign, in contrast, feels like a much smaller, more self-contained and personal experience; a detailed chapter of the larger story told by the A-10 campaign. This is intentional, of course - I just didn't know and was surprised by the abrupt departure from the previous style. I can't say which I prefer, but I think I lean more towards the A-10 style than this. It's just a matter of personal preference. In a way, the change in style reflects the change in culture between the services, which is fitting. Either way, I loved it. From the great balance between both low-tech, dumb iron bombing missions and high-precision drops, the campaign does a great job of fleshing out the Harrier and touring its capabilities in a very natural way. FOB Romeo was... absolutely terrifying! Both landing there the first time, basically blind, and taking off in the dark... both heart-pounding moments! One negative note - which is through no real fault of your own - is that I went through this during a time in which the Rockeyes are bugged. Instead of bursting at the set altitudes, they burst immediately upon release from the aircraft, regardless of the type of drop, the altitude and the angle. This took... a lot of trial and error to get used to and involved setting up custom missions for myself to practice ballpark estimates of how to drop and conceivably hit something. I was glad to see the smattering of ground radio channels I would expect to have to go through on start-up, taxi, take-off, approach and landing, instead of just the 1, like in the A-10 campaign. Great improvement there! I also learned a lot from just listening in on the comms for an artillery strike! On a slightly more masochistic note, perhaps, I kind of wish there had been at least one mission with AAR and one involving the Tarawa and/or a forced vertical landing. Sure, you have the option to VL whenever you want, but you're never forced to. I get why these were omitted - these are about as hardcore as it gets in the Harrier - but I feel like they are integral parts of airframe's operations and deserved some kind of spotlight. Optional, for AAR, if nothing else. Alright, that's all. I have all of your campaigns and I will crack on with the next one soon. Probably the Hornet =). Thanks for the campaign, it taught me a lot and I thoroughly enjoyed it! 1

I gave the Tarawa some thought for this one, but just found the transit an unnecessary ask of the player. That is being addressed of course in my Falklands Harrier campaign!
