Spartan1-1 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Maybe a stupid question... But does anyone know if a laptop can be used as a second monitor? Similar topic... This may be FAR fetched but I was thinking, no dreaming, of the possibility of an offset piece of software for a second PC that allows a second monitor capability (it-23, abris, etc) as well as taking up the load on your cpu. Linked via LAN maybe. Just a thought. Tbag Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 About the monitor: No clue! About the 2nd PC: Check the other multi-monitor threads. You don't need a second PC I guess. [/url]"Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so." - Douglas Adams

RockStar Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I know there are applications out there to allow you to use a secondary PC as a second monitor. Here is one I found in a google search... http://www.maxivista.com/download.htm I am not sure if it can be used with DCS however. I would think there is hope though... Rock on, be strong!

I'd seen that before, and forgotten about it. I don't think it will serve our purposes with DCS:BS though... Excerpted from http://www.maxivista.com/docs3/09/sysreq.htm : " Hardware graphics acceleration such as DirectX or OpenGL is not supported on the Secondary Display as it would require the emulation of a graphics processor by your standard CPU which would not be favourable. " (also of note:) " Windows Vista x64 disallows to install software with unsigned drivers "for your safety". As MaxiVista drivers are not signed, it does not work under Windows Vista 64 Bit OS. SquidgyB Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Windows Vista x64 disallows to install software with unsigned drivers "for your safety". As MaxiVista drivers are not signed, it does not work under Windows Vista 64 Bit OS. There are ways around that, do a google search on signing Vista 64 drivers, I can't remember how off the top of my head but I've done it before.
CyBerkut Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Could be I was just including another quote from the same page as the quote above it. I suspect the lack of DirectX support for the secondary monitor would be a deal breaker any ways. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
