Can George Lase/Store?

Hiya. I'm trying to learn the heli from the back seat exclusively, to start with. Is there currently a way of getting George to lase and store the targets that he lists, or do I have to hop in the front and use the TEDAC?
Thanks.

Outside of jumping into the front seat, you can use the TSD to generate a target point where he's looking via the cursor. CAQ for rapid setting, otherwise the point menu if you have time to stabilize.

Does the TSD show where the CP/G is looking? That's handy.

What do do mean by CAQ, rapid setting or point menu?

So while at the moment there's no command for George to 'store' a target he has lased, when you look at the TSD you will see a line from the ownship symbol with a crosshair over where he is looking. Next slew the cursor over that crosshair. Now you can either add a point manually with the keyboard or the 'cursor enter' OR select CAQ on the right side bar and 'cursor enter' and a white cross with PLT will appear where you have selected. You can use that as an acquisition source.

It will be nice when we can direct George to store a target with the AI menu but this is what you can do as of now.

So I found out you can actually do this by creating a custom bind or using a third party program to do it for you. Here's me using touch portal to store from the back seat. It works great.

can you also use that to turn on IAT on for george?

This function, to lase & store, is such a fundamental function for the gunner that I'm still surprised ED released the AH-64 without it, let alone take this long yet to add it. To add insult, George actually states he's lased & stored the target.

Yes, but how useful it is, I haven't tested.

Any info on how to actually accomplish this?

If you can get him to use IAT, he won't drift off of targets like he tends to do.

Video description is how I did it. People who know how to make custom binds like zrads FLIR/TV ones in the dcs userfiles can do it that way.

I know for a fact that I've heard George say "Lased and Stored", but I don't recall the exact circumstance that made it happen, I think the aircraft was safe, but I had him pull up a list of targets and I selected one from the list. But now I believe he just arms the aircraft as soon as you ask him to slave, a change in a more recent update.

Maybe set him to select No Weapon, have him slave to a target, and select it and see what he says.

The exercise is kind of pointless I think because there's no way to tell George to engage a stored target. At least not one I'm aware of.
