Mochizuki_Mk19 Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 After successfully finished the RAG and survived the first deployments, I think I am a badass, now I'm proven wrong... Mission 13 is absolutely not playable in VR here, can literally see nothing without NVG, and with NVG the extremely low framerate & pixels on this NVG don't really make things better. To be fair I'll just post some screenshots: In the first screenshot I'm about at most 1 nm away from tanker, you can tell by the labels, but I see literally nothing even at a very close range; The second screenshot is taken roughly at the same range but with NVG, now you can see tiny little black pixels, actually I can see them well in the game, but the NVG is just... unstable, and I loose the sense of controlling the aircraft, makes it a million times harder to refuel or even join up. I've seen from other people's videos that in flat mode things are not so bad, but since I want to stick with VR I'll just skip this one instead, or until something is fixed by ED.
Reflected Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Night lighting recently changed in DCs world. And I agree with you. But it doesn’t only affect this mission so why don’t you post it here please: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/474-general-bugs/ 2 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Pegas44 (Andrey) Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Yeah, night lighting is terrible in DCS, but I was able to finish tanking after a dozen of attempts with max gamma at 3.5 in VR, but later I was shoot down so I hesitate to repeat tanking again. BTW trying to stay in formation fully in darkens with only stars visible is very surreal experience - feels like flying a space ship

I think it's totally doable. For tanking, turn HUD off, and really crank up NVG gain - you will see just fine. Your gain seems extremely low from the screenshot. Other than tanking, you can get away with not seeing anything, and just flying instruments, and following radio directions. Your flight is usually going full mil power in the direction they tell you, just do that. And if you want to "cheat": if you're conservative, you can probably get away with not tanking, just go easy on the burner when launching the TALDs... I had to dump around 2k lbs of fuel for landing in this mission. You tank around 3-4k, so you should be fine if you don't go crazy. 1
