Isometric View Thermal Commander SIght Image Blocker (Intentional?)

Sorry, but I couldn't find the right word. Basically on some tanks like the M1A2 and the ZTZ96, when you enter Thermals when in Isometric view, you get a photo which blocks your vision on top of what you are supposed to see.

This used to be a view in those two tanks in particular, when you changed between different zoom levels. Not all tanks have this. Is it intentional?

Also - can we get rid of the thermals in isometric view?

It makes no sense, and its really annoying that I have to constantly turn off my thermals when toggling back and forth.
