dresoccer4 Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 I'm confused about these maps. I know the Channel was better and more detailed, however the new Normandy 2.0 map covers the exact same area and uses latest technology. Does that render the Channel map obsolete? Is there still a use case for it? Help me understand this 1 Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules
guitarxe Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) I just bought the Channel map because of the many (and excellent, I am told) campaigns created for that map. I have no idea when or if ever any of those campaigns would be getting recreated to use a different map. I know the ones that were designed for the Original Normandy are probably going to get remade, but not sure about the ones for The Channel. And since you get a discount for Normandy if you have The Channel, it made sense to buy that first and then follow up with Normandy. Edited April 23, 2023 by guitarxe

No. Normandy 2 does not cover the Channel map in the sense that any airfield present on the channel map are NOT present on the Normandy 2 map. The area of the channel map is also low detail in Normandy 2. So while Normandy 2 does kind of cover the landmass of the channel map, pretty much anything present on the channel map is not present in the Normandy 2 map, like airfield, amiens prison, some Chain Home stations missing etc. 1
