Hello SlimJimIV,  Well impressed your still keeping up with this, praise from a crabfat may not count for much, 🙂 but respect is deserved. Just caught up with this post,  regarding the wee chat about action. IMHO if a carrier was in the Yemen area, then whatever it carried would have been commited. In those days a signal could still take over 24 hrs to get back to UK, who'd know, and who would be keeping tabs. The Air Minsitry and Admiralty would keep things from each other so it would'nt surprise me at all. RAF Aircrew were  operating with other users in the area, why not the RN.

Best wishes with the project and I ask you to do it at your own pace and totally ignore the impatient ones.

So it's been ... a while since the last Scim update. Work has continued, mostly on the research side for the last couple of months, but a little 3D work here and there. As is the way with many DCS modding projects, it all takes much longer than one expects, and learning an entirely new way to do 3D, as well as working from some pretty questionable documentation has made this much more challenging. I've also been much busier with the unavoidable "real life" (which I am now quite convinced does exist and wasn't just made up to stop me practicing case III recoveries), and a couple of other projects which I've been splitting my time with to avoid burn-out. It's about a year since I started this project, and although I have definitely not progressed at the speed I had hoped, it's been a lot of fun so far.

The Scimitar isn't going anywhere, but for the time being it's going on the back burner until I can get better 3D reference, be it more detailed plans or scans of models perhaps. I will be working on the cockpit here and there, and might even finish off the current 3D model for AI use only over the next couple of months (pretty pictures will of course be provided where appropriate).

In the meantime I have a couple of other DCS mod projects that will be announced in due course so stay tuned in the forums and discord.

A short Scim update today - I promise to make them slightly more frequent from now on - I will target once a month, but that will vary depending on other commitments. It's been a very busy 10 months since I sat down to write the last update. I now have a full-time job that will let me use my degree, which is obviously taking up more of my time than a part-time gig in a well known German-owned budget supermarket. The good news is that means I have more funds that I can funnel into the Scimitar to get reference material.

Just this week (and the reason I have an update at all), I have managed to find some excellent 3D reference that will help kickstart development again. Progress will not be swift, but I am more motivated now the nights are longer and the evenings darker.  I hope to be able to provide a better update with some juicy pictures before Christmas.

Thanks for the update Jim 🙂 Keep enjoying it, keep motivated, and do shout out if there's anything us cheerleaders can do to help things along.

More power to your elbow!
