I'd like to be able to lower the exterior (F2) view while on the ground, so that the point of view is at ground level. Anyone know how to set this?

I only think you can go so low with the view while on the ground, but you can use the mouse or hat to move the view around unless you changed those from default..

Wrong.

Go to this folder:

...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View

and open up "server.lua" in notepad or something.

Look for the line called:

CameraTerrainRestriction = true <------ change that to "FALSE" and save it.

Now the camera can actually go through the ground, and you can now have the camera as low as you wish :)

I followed the suggestion, and viola! Now I can take ground-level screenshots and be able to see up close to the helicopter from below to check on skinning details. I know I could have it in the air and do the same, but well, when I post pics of the finished skin, looks way cool from that viewpoint, lol.

Ok, one more question regarding view altering - I'd like to be able to get really close up to the helicopter for screenshot purposes - seems you can only get so close then if moving the mouse bumps you back. Can this be changed?

Crazysundog - you are the master. Not only that, I went and looked up my Key Command List (obtained right from the DCS forums by someone), and found I can slew camera viewpoint so that the camera can rotate, pivot and otherwise focus within "virtual millimeters" on any rivet, panel or spot on the helicopter. Awesome.

I programmed a macro with 'CNTL-F11' and immediately after 'NumPad-.' (decimal) so that my 'drop cam' will imediately lock onto whatever vehicle i've been viewing.

'Alt-F2' is also a handy view....

personally, I have a X52 setup just for camera viewing!!
