MBot Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 http://cid-f33d8b1019e6f4ac.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/LeopardDefense.trk This 06:30 long track features the defense of a German Leopard 2 platoon against a company of Russian T-72. I actually created it already some time ago, when testing the setup for my Red Snow mission. But only now I realized that the initial track has the be recorded with terrain restriction set to false for any changes with terrain restriction=false to take any effect. Now it should play correctly regardless of the setting you use. Some of the camera angles are not that great, but you have to re-record the whole thing again to change anything (therefore possibly loosing angles that were quite good). So please forgive if not every scene is movie quality. But I think some of the shots are quite cool :) I hope you enjoy.
deadsmell Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 cool, ill check this out. I do enjoy a good replay. just curious though, did you use the in-game avi converter to make this? Dont let the smell get to ya...............
MBot Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 No, it is still a track you have to run in the game.
deadsmell Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 right, I should have seen the tail end of that link .trk sorry, I had just woke up. havent watched it yet. though I should have watched it last night, because i watched replays for a good two hours at least. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
asxdef Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) When I try to watch this track via the replay menu, I get the following error: ..\blackshark\modules\me_mission.lua:308: could not open file `./../Temp/tempMission.miz' via a dialog box. If I click OK (which is the only option) DCS:BS crashes to desktop Edit: The reason for the error was that I did not correctly download the file. So please ignore this post, everything is fine :-) Edited February 15, 2009 by asxdef
Dusty Rhodes Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Running gun battle between the Germans and the Russians. Germany wins THIS TIME against the T-72. Nice use of the terrain with the Leopard 2's. I bet that took a lot of work to position them just right so they imitate a hull down position using terrain masking. The MLRS strike and Arty strike were good for the atmosphere though they didn't do much. Rhino4 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I hear people saying "hull down" all the time on these forums but I'm a total land combat newb...Anybody care to explain what this means?
sobek Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I hear people saying "hull down" all the time on these forums but I'm a total land combat newb...Anybody care to explain what this means? It means that the only part of the tank that is exposed to the enemy is it's turret, therefore making it harder to spot and attack and destroy (the turret front is usually the part with the thickest armor). Edit: The third screenshot in the first post is a fine example of the tanks in hull down position. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
