Callsign.Vega Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 I'm getting into DCS Beta because of the new Multi Threading and my Pimax Crystal getting delivered soon. I currently have an Overclocked 7950X. Would I gain anything by upgrading to the 7950X3D with the extra cache on one CCD with eight cores? How is the performance of AMD CPU vs Intels 13900K? Does it noticeably prefer one or the other? Thanks. GPU: RTX 4090 - 3,000 MHz core / 12,000 MHz VRAM. CPU: 7950X3d - 5.2 GHz X3d, 5.8 GHz secondary / MB: ASUS Crosshair X670E Gene / RAM: G.Skill 48GB 6400 MHz SSD: Intel Optane P5800X - 800GB VR: Pimax Crystal CONTROLS: VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Base / VPC Constellation ALPHA Prime Grip / VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle / TM Pendular Rudders
Callsign.Vega Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 A follow up to that question with regard to RAM.. I currently have 32GB and thinking about upgrading to 48GB. Does DCS like/use anything above 32GB is demanding scenarios? I run a 4090 and like high graphics. GPU: RTX 4090 - 3,000 MHz core / 12,000 MHz VRAM. Art-J Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Mind you, you can use MT in DCS Stable now as well, in the same way as in Beta (launching with separate exec). Though you'll probably be happy with Beta anyway. As for the 3D CPUs, have you followed recent posts in this thread? Lots of useful infor there: About the RAM question, that depends on how you play DCS. Guys who play complex multiplayer missions on Syria map with lots of scripts and units (worst case scenario in DCS now it seems) report going well into 40-50 GB of RAM usage easily. Others don't use that much. Edited May 27, 2023 by Art-J 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
