bies Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Will this new radar model become some kind of API to be used by other developers and modules across DCS? Or it will be exclusive for F-16 and F/A-18 radar modeling? Thanks for your work! 1
falcon_120 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 I'd like this new framework to gradually translate to existing modules, even FC3. I understand that is not feasible without somekind of financial support, so maybe from 2025 onwards when FC3 models will be in desperate need of a cockpit retexturing/remodelling ED will take every update done through the years, like the updated radar framework and pack it in a budget friendly FC4 product.
markom Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Just buy a module or terrain once in a while - that way you can support them, and have some fun. For example, even though I rarely use many of them, I own all the terrains. Just because I like supporting companies that provide me with good entertainment.
Solution Temetre Posted June 9, 2023 Solution Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Yeah, a unified baseline radar API would be really nice. If it does all the basics well, is nicely implemented and configurable for specific features, that could help other modules a lot imo. Radars are just so complicated, even getting the basic right seems to be a big challenge for the developers. Honestly, I wish Heatblur or Razbam would license their Radar APIs to other devs or DCS in general, those two seem to have the best radar models. I know at least HB is developing general radar-framework with the F-4E, which is gonna be transfered to F-14 and Viggen in the long run. Edited June 9, 2023 by Temetre 3
