Coota0 Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) As the title says did anyone else watch the Smithsonian Channel's F-14 Episode of Air Warriors? I thought the first 30 minutes or so was pretty good, but was unimpressed with the second half of the episode. The use of Jessica Biel's Ejection from Stealth was particularly bad. I also didn't like how the episode kept talking about the great engines in the D without even acknowledging the A+/B even existed. Anyone else annoyed? Edited June 7, 2023 by Coota0
WarthogOsl Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 I'm not surprised. Haven't seen Airwarriors since I cut the cord, but I always found that show to be rather problematic. Way too much reliance on stock footage that often doesn't even match the stories they are trying to tell. And then, way too much reliance on stories versus actual facts about the airplane and it's development ("Dogfights" did a much better job in this respect). Makes me miss Discovery Wings.
RustBelt Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 Everyone misses Discovery Wings.……that theme song….90’s Nostalgia goodness.

I thought it was a weird twist when it made the jump from being about the F-14 and its combat history to suddenly being about female aviators in the military. That stuff is all fine and good, but I thought I tuned in for a show about the F-14?

This is a show that, when talking about "the mighty MiG," showed a formation of L-39's, and confuses shots of air to ground rockets with air to air missiles. 1
