I have as you no doubt know, been tweaking and setting up my new QP.....Today, I seem to be locked into ASW. Despite setting Off in OTT, I run at half whatever refresh I set. And in ODT, I am unable to choose any other option other than auto.....they are available in the drop down, but when I try and set something other than auto , I get an error message saying "Failed to change ASW to 2"

This is recent behaviour, as the last few days, the sim has been running fine, sometimes, when not in demanding situations, running at full frames, IE 72, or 80 or 90, depending on the refresh I have set. Now, I am stuck at 50% all the time. I have restarted everything, including the PC, several times, but still cant get any change.....

Can anyone advise?

are you using the OpenXR Toolkit and have set framerate limit?  set max framerate in Nvidia settings?

Yes I am, but limit is set to the refresh rate, not 50% of it. No limit set in NVCP. I have changed nothing, it was working as it should, now, locked at 50%....

frame rate in Oculus is for both eyes (72, 80, 90), ODT/OTT for each eye (18, 30, 45), OXRTK framerate target and limiter is again for both eyes.

I have done a factory reset and software update for another issue and it seems I can now set things in ODT. So will try this.

Is ASW only set up and turned on or off via the ODT or OTT, not within the Oculus software? Even though I have not been using OTT for the last few days, the settings I set in there relating to the quest link, are shown as applied in ODT. I thought OTT had to be running for any settings to apply? This is the case even though I have set everything back to default in OTT and restarted everything.....?

Both the ODT and the OTT do the same thing. One is a developer's debug tool, which isn't particularly polished, but up to date... the other, (OTT) is written by a third party and is over a year old and not up to date. But they both do the same thing, i.e. configure the headset and link. The OTT has some extra bells and whistles to allow you to set per app configuration.

ASW cannot be configured in the Oculus PC app. The Oculus PC app can only set the refresh rate and the render resolution - after all, those are the only options available.

The ODT configures registry entries. Maybe the ASW is configured that way - I'm not sure. But your Oculus service is probably still running and configured as you left it. If you don't fully shut down your PC and instead it sleeps/hibernates, the settings are probably still current when it wakes up.

I think there is a third way... CLI (command line interface). So you could write your own script and use it to configure the headset before you run DCS (or it could run DCS too). I've not yet looked into that. Maybe that's how the OTT works.

Would be nice if the OTT was open source then others could maintain it.

In ODT,there are 2 settings relating to ASW, one mobile and one PC….do you know why they are separate and what they each do?

https://mixed-news.com/en/meta-quest-2-next-update-brings-new-pc-vr-feature/

"The new feature allows the artificially generated images to be calculated on the VR glasses instead of the PC, which should reduce the load on the graphics card and improve performance."
