I saw this on reddit. A bunch of color photographs of the Nazis. Taken during various political events and rallies. A few make you really take a step back at how massive these events were.

NOTE: One image NSFW. (artistic nudity)

I think it would be very hard to explain if the boss caught you just as you scrolled past the NSFW image, on a page of full-colour photographs of Nazi rallies lol

Brilliant find, for me somehow the colour makes it more immediate. Never again.

Great photos, in colour it feels more immediate... closest.

Hope it never happen again.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Nice collection of photos.

I don't think I had seen any german monuments like this before: (I guess they didn't have time to put anything fancier up there)

Soviet ones for comparison:

Color photos from that period of time, particularly from Nazi Germany, always amaze me and give me the chills. It all seems so much more real and so much more recent. That picture of Goering (I think its him, he has a weird look on his face) might as well be a modern picture of a modern statesmen caught in a candid photo talking perhaps to his staff. Then I take a step back and really look at his elaborate dress uniform and it reminds me of what time period I'm viewing and what that stood for. Then I realize who it is I'm looking at and I'm in disbelief. I look at nameless mens' faces and always wonder if these men had any inkling of the darkness and evil that was going to be unleashed and whether or not they had any notion of what the fate of their leaders and nations would eventually be.

Its so, so much different than seeing a grainy old black and white picture, at least for me it is.

They had plenty... but I believe most were destroyed during or after the war.

(edit: cant post the link because the URL has a curse word in it) But its roughly half way down and hitler looks to be talking with an adviser alone.

I find this one incredibly disturbing, because its quite different than any other photo in the set, and theres something about the sickly look on is face.

The Military Channel has recently been running an historical documentary entitled "Hitler's Bodyguard". Its quite interesting and within minutes it becomes apparently clear how screwed up and paranoid hitler and his body guards were.

Truly an instance where we do not want history to repeat itself...

A very interesting thread this.

I found a few more here, if you looked on Google i'm sure you'll have seen them.

These photos remind us of the horrors of the war and the fruits of victory! Photos are mostly of the Allies camp!

That seems like an oxymoron to me, and very immature, but it doesn't lessen the effect of the pictures.

I think they had a completely different perspective on it than you and I do. They were nationalists doing -what they thought- was best for their country. There's no doubt many of the things Nazi Germany did was very very bad but in my opinion there's no such thing as evil... There's just interest vs interest... Of course the post-war propaganda from east and west would like people to think what they defeated was evil itself (the conqueror writes the history). I'm trying to look at it from a completely neutral stand point and I'm not at all trying to downplay all the very bad things that happened and I hope it's never allowed to happen again. Edit: I agree with CE, it's indeed not a good idea to start a debate on such a sensitive subject.

You can bypass the language filter by using numeric character references to the unicode code points. For example replace the c in fu*k with & # 9 9 ; (without spaces in it).

To understand the rise of Hitler, and therefore the European aspect of WW2, you need to look at WW1. Unfortunately it's not as simple as 'Hitler did it,' or 'the German people did it'.

It's never wise to discuss something like this and especially not on a multi-cultural forum, as everyone has varying experiences. If people are interested in a debate I suggest reading a book on the inter-war years, as it will teach you more about wartime Germany than any book involving the war itself.

That isn't aimed at anyone, it's just that this is such a poigniant thread I don't think anyone wants to trivialise it by having a debate.
