Cobra_B39 Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Sorry for posting this question but I can't seem to locate a thread for my issue and I just need a little help. I'm flying the F/A-18 and using a TM Warthog HOTAS. Until recently, I've been landing on the carrier and quickly taxiing out of the LA without issue. However, the last 5-6 traps, after raising the hook and wings, I can taxi forward okay but I have NO steering (rudder, NWS or NWS HI). Am I slamming the front gear too hard? My gear handle is flashing and I am getting the pulsing, gear warning sound. I don't see any visible damage to the gear or tires but I'm clearly doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated - thanks! i5 11400 ׀ 64GB RAM ׀ NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 ׀ Buttkicker Pro ׀ Razer Blackshark V2 Pro ׀ Quest 3 VR ׀ 1 TB SSD׀ TM Warthog Stick/Throttle HOTAS ׀ TM F/A-18C Stick ׀ TM TPR Rudder Pedals ׀ Moza AB9 FFB Base ׀ WinWing F/A-18C PTO2 Take Off Panel ׀ Next Level Racing Boeing Military Cockpit F/A/18C - Super Carrier - Nevada - Persian Gulf - Kola
Tholozor Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 A track would help us diagnose. REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
ex81 Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Happend to me once or twice and the reason is damaging the gear by landing too hard. Whatever the special reason is, a ground crew repair should work. On the other hand, I believe you have to shot down first. What goes up, must come down ! If you have the gear warning and pulsing light then gear is damaged and that's your problem. Saw that recently when I came in too high and tried to slam the plane onto the deck to catch the wire (yes, I should have waved off). Used left throttle and right toe brake to limp out of the landing area, but no real steering. Edited June 10, 2023 by rob10
Cobra_B39 Posted June 10, 2023 Author Posted June 10, 2023 Thanks for the feedback guys - after trapping a few times this morning, my issue is certainly pilot error... AoA too high and slamming the gear. Making that adjustment took care of the issue. Rob10, thanks too for the left throttle/right toe brake tip. Had to try it on my first trap this AM when I broke the nose wheel again. At least I was able to clear the LA. 1 i5 11400 ׀ 64GB RAM ׀ NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 ׀ Buttkicker Pro ׀ Razer Blackshark V2 Pro ׀ Quest 3 VR ׀ 1 TB SSD׀ TM Warthog Stick/Throttle HOTAS ׀ TM F/A-18C Stick ׀ TM TPR Rudder Pedals ׀ Moza AB9 FFB Base ׀ WinWing F/A-18C PTO2 Take Off Panel ׀ Next Level Racing Boeing Military Cockpit F/A/18C - Super Carrier - Nevada - Persian Gulf - Kola
