  1. Thanks for your note, I wasn't aware. If that's the case, that's too bad... I have several nice squadron helmets with this issue. If the anticipated Hornet pilot update includes a white HGU w/ black elephant ears, that would be a big upgrade over the current gray HGU. Maybe include a stripe pattern or lightning bolts on the back/sides for good measure - I would be happy.
  2. I've been following this thread and looking forward to the F/A-18 pilot update. For those who may not have seen the 6/16/23 newsletter, here's the link with a status report: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/e7afcb836d02156d44952fdf413fa02c/ In addition to additional visor/mask detail, does anyone now if this update will also address the issue that effects a lot of the custom helmet skins? The helmet art for some of my liveries is perfect but for many, the graphics on the left side and top of the HGU is black. The right side graphics are fine. Would be great if this issue can be fixed as well.
  3. I actually started a similar thread for this topic a while back but for anyone who finds this thread, I'm happy to share my DCS Hapti settings for the F/A-18C. I'm not saying these as optimal, just showing what seems to be working well for me. I'm still interested is seeing what others recommend so please post. My BK Pro amp settings are: (Low Filter Cutoff: Off, High Cutoff Frequency: 80, Volume: 30) RPMs 68 Runway Texture 81 Landing Gear 71 Flaps 81 Suspension 56 Touchdown 78 G-force 45 Gear Turbulence 38 Speedbrake 69 Folding Wings 64 Cannon 52 Weapons 64 Canopy 49 Parachute 52 Refueling Boom 43 Chaff 58 Flare 58
  4. Just a quick update on the Buttkicker issue I reported in my May 23 post above. BK did release a fix for the DCS RPM issue (update v1.8.0, driver v1.0.0) and after installing and resetting my RPM setting back to 68, I've had no issues. The BK unit is producing all of the normal DCS feedbacks and the RPM issue has gone away. Note, after the initial update install, I did a system restart but on my first DCS flight, I got no BK feedback at all (like the unit wasn't even on). I powered down my pc and turned off the BK amp. I then unplugged/plugged the amp power cord. Powered everything back up, launched a new DCS flight and that took care of it -- the BK Pro has been working great!
  5. Thanks for the feedback guys - after trapping a few times this morning, my issue is certainly pilot error... AoA too high and slamming the gear. Making that adjustment took care of the issue. Rob10, thanks too for the left throttle/right toe brake tip. Had to try it on my first trap this AM when I broke the nose wheel again. At least I was able to clear the LA.
  6. Sorry for posting this question but I can't seem to locate a thread for my issue and I just need a little help. I'm flying the F/A-18 and using a TM Warthog HOTAS. Until recently, I've been landing on the carrier and quickly taxiing out of the LA without issue. However, the last 5-6 traps, after raising the hook and wings, I can taxi forward okay but I have NO steering (rudder, NWS or NWS HI). Am I slamming the front gear too hard? My gear handle is flashing and I am getting the pulsing, gear warning sound. I don't see any visible damage to the gear or tires but I'm clearly doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
  7. I've had my BK Gamer Pro for about 3 weeks and for me, it adds a whole new level of immersion and realism to DCS. I fly VR and I have a Warthog HOTAS with the F/A-18 stick mounted to a NextLevel Boeing cockpit (military version) which comes with a BK mounting post right under the seat. If you take a look at my above post, the BK Hapti software now integrates with DCS and you can adjust about 20 or so effects. It also integrates well with my wireless headphones/mic so not only am I feeling the effects but the sound is also fantastic. My wife's a little pissed now when when I fly because even with my ears on, she can feel/hear it downstairs - ha! When I turn it off and fly without it, it's just not the same. Here's one if many YouTube videos I watched before buying: I did have an issue this weekend however. Everything has been working great but when I started a mission on Saturday, the transducer was shaking/vibrating like crazy (like it was stuck). At first, I thought I had an issue with the jet (landing gear, structural damage, etc). However, I had no warning lights and a visual inspection showed no damage. I just turned off the BK amp and continued. I contacted BK support the next day and they said they've discovered an interface issue with DCS that randomly increases the RPM setting to MAX. They said they should have an update in a week or so that will fix the issue. In the meantime, I just moved my RPM slider to 0 and that seems to have temporarily fixed it - it's worked fine tonight.
  8. For starters, here's a list (and screenshot) of my current DCS Hapti settings. I'm not recommending these as optimal, just showing what seems to be working well with my rig. Still looking for recommendations for what others suggest as optimal: My BK Pro amp settings are: (Low Filter Cutoff: Off, High Cutoff Frequency: 80, Volume: 30) RPMs 68 Runway Texture 81 Landing Gear 71 Flaps 81 Suspension 56 Touchdown 78 G-force 45 Gear Turbulence 38 Speedbrake 69 Folding Wings 64 Cannon 52 Weapons 64 Canopy 49 Parachute 52 Refueling Boom 43 Chaff 58 Flare 58
  9. Great, thank you... looking forward to seeing your settings. In the meantime, I continue to fine tune.
  10. Hello - just installed a Buttkicker Gamer Pro and I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share (or post a screenshot) of their optimized fighter jet settings? I was able to Google and find several race car settings but nothing for DCS jets. I'm using VR (with the F/A-18) and jumping back/forth between DCS and the HaptiConnect software to fine tune each setting is a little frustrating. My initial settings seem okay and the BK certainly adds a whole new dimension. It would just be great knowing what settings you all recommend for the best experience - thanks.
  11. Any luck yet? I just bought the BK Pro and am planning to install it this week. If you got it working and you’ve optimized the Haptic settings, a screenshot would be appreciated.

Long-time flight simmer (Falcon 4.0, Jane's, Flanker 2.5, VRS Superbug) but have been out of it for several years. About a month ago, a friend introduced me to DCS VR and now I'm all in. I have two good friends who are both active USN Hornet pilots so my DCS jet is the F/A-18C.

I've been active the past few weeks building my rig (new PC, VR, NLR cockpit, Warthog HOTAS, etc). Right now, I'm just trying to get re-familiar with the basics -- cold start, taxi, takeoff. So much to absorb, but looking forward to interacting and learning from you all.

  13. LC - I PM'ed you about one of these F/A-18 plates... would like to order one if possible.
  14. I agree. I've been off/on with flight sims for a long time... Falcon 4.0, Jane's, Flanker 2.5, etc. Before DCS, I flew VRS Superbug for a couple years (maybe 4-5 years ago when I had Windows 7). I don't think they bothered making it compatible with Windows 10 so it retired to the boneyard like the others. DCS however appears to be going strong - at least they keep adding aircraft and functionality (multithread). Time will tell I guess.
