Planecrash Shinee Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) Could anyone help me diagnose crashing in DCS. It has only started since switching into multithreading but now does it on both versions. It works perfectly in single player mission but as soon as I try multiplayer it will crash as im loading in the plane or shortly after loading it. It started out lasting a while in game before crashing and has got progressively worse. Seems to load when on low and medium presets of graphics but I have been running high settings for years now without issue. I have suspicions it could be my aging CPU or I also read some forum posts with similar issues suggesting its ram thats gone bad. Latest crash logs below. Any help would be appreciated. Novexous Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 I am also having this issue. Seems to only be happening in the F-16 for me and its getting rather frustrating. Happening with both version. The crash says "out of memory": # -------------- 20230626-083241 -------------- DCS/2.8.6.41363 (x86_64; MT; Windows NT 10.0.19045) S:\Program Files\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\edCore.dll # 80000003 BREAKPOINT at 00007ffbdef976bb 00:00000000 SymInit: Symbol-SearchPath: 'S:\Program Files\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt;', symOptions: 532, UserName: 'Kane 2' OS-Version: 10.0.19045 () 0x100-0x1 0x00000000000276bb (edCore): ed::fatal_out_of_memory + 0x3B 0x0000000000022c77 (edCore): ed::SharedBuffer::create + 0x37 I see you have 32GB of RAM. Set a manual 32GB pagefile and see if it helps. First, ensure you have enough free space on all your drives (at least 50 GB). Set: init size = 32768 max size = 32768 Ensure the drive the pagefile is on is the fastest one. @Novexous Same symtoms for you. Try the manual pagefile as well. ---
Planecrash Shinee Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 Amazing! That has seemed to have done the trick. Thanks Flappie
Novexous Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 This also has fixed this issue along with other performance issues that I was having. Thank you! 1
Novexous Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Id like to open this topic back up. for some reason DCS is back to running close to my max of 32gb of ram. What im doing: I load into a multiplayer server that has many between 5-10 people in it. I load into the F-16 (in VR). During my load in, its taking forever ( at least a full minute or 2) to populate all of the terrain. Once the terrain is finally loaded, its a 50/50 chance that my VR is either smooth or so jittery that i have to restart the entire program. If its smooth, then theres a 50/50 chance that once I take off and finally get flying, that the jitters return. My ram usage is still upwards of 31.2 - 31.6 usage. My page file is set to 32gb. I still have plenty of space on my drive. Ive tried lowering my settings to the lowest, (i know this mostly has to do with the GPU) but i figured i would try. I literally just ordered 64gb of ram to replace the 8gb sticks hoping this will cure the issue. I just dont understand why there is so much draw on ram for this? Is there anything else that I can try? Ive gone as far as doing a full format, updated drivers and fresh install of everything and its not helping. System specs: CPU: i7 10700k 32gb ram Nvidia RTX 2080 Primary Drive - 120gb ssd Secondary (DCS Installed - 2tb ssd
Flappie Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Hi. I think you're encountering a bug that appeared with the latest open beta. Try disabling Hyperthreading in the BIOS, or tell Windows not to let DCS use your CPU e-cores in the task manager. Some users saod it was a nove workaround. More info here: ---
