Can't TPOD designate w/o NAV aligned?

Don't if this is a thing or not but I can barely get to aligned on a good day but can I not designate on the TPOD without a NAV align? It does use GPS coordinates so maybe that's a thing...

IFA already takes place automatically.  But regardless, you still need a proper initial alignment to even get GPS operating.

Well...Got a good align. GC OK. Switched to NAV for flight. Still can't designate a target. I've had nothing but issues with the F-15E TPOD.

Its not a mode thing is it? i.e. you might have to be in A/G mode to designate a target or something? (I've had no problems with designating once I sorted the key binds out, but i've only ever used it in A/G mode).

It was in A/G mode. I made sure of that. You can even see the TDC hat clicking on the in game throttle.

A short track file depicting the issue would help.

This button on the debriefing screen lets you save a track file:

If you want an expedited alignment use stored heading. It can be used as long as you adjust the settings to not require gc alignment.

An interactive replay of your flight, that gives the viewer the option to take control at any point.

Really? Oh, that's cool! I didn't know it could do that. That's a pretty nifty feature.
