Viciam1 Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Hi guys say you are in hover mode with altitude mode on hovering behind trees and buildings trying to shoot tanks on on the ground. What is the best way to slide left and right to get into a slightly new position? Is it hold the trim down and push joystick left or right and release trim when settled in new position? Is it better to use flight director mode for these slight adjustments? thanks
Schlomo1933 Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Flight director always, hover by yourself. Don’t use the hover mode . If u are under attack , u are way to slow to react in hover mode.

That said, proper procedure would be to hold down trim and make slight adjustments, that way your hover hold will just settle you in your new position. Best to avoid using the Flight Director mode and learn to work with the autopilot, it will pay dividends in the long run. Flight Director was not used in real life outside of certain training scenarios. Tools like hover hold are there to reduce your already substantial workload, it makes no sense not to use them and getting comfortable with them will make the Ka-50 a much easier helicopter to employ. 1

To kill them before they will kill you. But you are completly right when u say its a sim and whatever works is great. @Viciam1 If u really want to use the autohover and u want to change your position you will have two choices: 1. switch to Flight Director, change your position and switch the FD off again. You may have to fine trimm again. Let the Autohover switched on while u change your position. 2. do it like Noctrach But i can highly recommend to dont use the autohover. Its not so easy in the beginning . But when u master it, it will rewards u with better and faster avoiding from enemy fire and your skill to fligh the ka-50 will rise. BigBorner Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Just nudge the Stick in the direction you want to sideslip. Without Trim pressed or anything else. it will than slip a bit to the side and stabilize itself again. faster if you help it stabilizing, without pressign trim. From my perception, it works even better with auto turn turned on. Edited July 7, 2023 by BigBorner
eleventy Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Another possibility: If you are in hover mode, behind a building, push your cyclic left ( or right) without touching the trim to unmask and look for targets. Then, when you release your cyclic back to its neutral position, the shark will automatically go back to its original masked position. If you think it's safe to stay in the open position, just tap the trim to make this your new hold position. It's not the fastest method, but it's the easiest. Try all methods, and see what works for you. 1

I think To shift laterally while in hover mode, you need to Confirm that the trim is centered, Utilize the joystick to smoothly push left or right, Apply gentle forward pressure to maintain altitude, Release the joystick once you've reached the desired position, Fine-tune your adjustment, if needed, using the trim controls. If this works please tell me. Thankyou. 1
