nuNce Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Hello, could somebody confirm that either this is the expected behaviour or a bug regarding the CBU-97 employment on the SE? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5xYt9BSjnk If I aim at the target CBUs fall short, if I correct and aim ahead of the targets (2nd and 3rd pass especially) they fall on target. I'm aware that on the release notes it is specified there are problems above 1500ft, but apparently they are also present under that altitude, unless I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.
Guest Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 CBU-97 don't have wind correction like the 105 have so i guess it is that.
Goofy12 Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Might be the wind. I get pretty good results by dropping a ripple of six with an interval of 400/500….its quite a spectacle to watch.
ebabil Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 rather than falling short, my cbu's go to about 100m left of the target despite the aligned auto release 1 FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 | Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15E| F-4| Tornado Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60 Youtube MS FFB2 - TM Warthog - CH Pro Pedals - Trackir 5
Flapjacks Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I've had the same problems. It is noted in the changelog known issues about them opening prematurely. I've had good results by setting the fuze to 900 ft and putting in roughly a 12 degree dive right when the release que is at about 8 secs. I haven't tried at a lot of different altitudes yet, but seems to work 8k-10k barometric. Hope this helps.

jaylw314 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 FWIW, the wind does affect CBU-97's, since the fire control computer only gets it to the point of deploying. After that, the submunitions are hanging in the wind for an additional 10-15 seconds. in a 10 knot wind, that's 150-250' of drift. 1
Eagle7907 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 It’s a known bug. Check the release notes. Simple fix is to aim behind target about 100 feet depending on the BA. The trajectory is currently using a normal dumb bomb which is not correct for a cluster munition that uses parachutes. This is why the -87s don’t fall short or don’t have a problem, but the -97s do. The trajectory is incorrect or being assigned the same trajectory as an -87.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 1 1 Win 10, AMD FX9590/water cooled, 32GB RAM, 250GB SSD system, 1TB SSD (DCS installed), 2TB HD, Warthog HOTAS, MFG rudders, Track IR 5, LG Ultrawide, Logitech Speakers w/sub, Fans, Case, cell phone, wallet, keys.....printer
