gdoggyc Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I have searched the manual a few times but still get very little description on what INST mode is used for vs. NAV mode. Can anyone describe the differences and when you would use one vs another? My first guess is INST is used in IMC conditions for navigation but i have no clue if that's correct or what that mode actually changes vs nav mode? Thanks in advance!
Eaglewings Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Haven't really played much with the inst mode but my educated guess is that when employing the ILS function, you would get navigation steering and symbology displayed. Similar to the F-16 navigation mode too. KlarSnow Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 INST mode is just a one press, brings up the HSI and ADI immediately button, otherwise there is no real difference between INST and NAV. 4
Bunny Clark Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 My understanding is that INST Mode is intended as an emergency reference mode for when the pilot becomes spatially disoriented and needs one-button access to orientation and navigation instruments. It's a safety feature more than something that is normally used. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. Bunny's: Form-Fillable Controller Layout PDFs | HOTAS Kneeboards | Checklist Kneeboards
