GeorgeSloan Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Good morning all, I've not managed to play DCS for some time now - mainly due to working away. But I've settled back down and am ready to jump into the cockpit! I've tried updating my game to the most recent Open Beta version. However, it says that I do not have enough space. Is there a reason as to why the update is over 200GB, that's bigger than the game, right? I've posted a screenshot to illustrate the issue that I'm having, any help would be greatly appreciated. DCS is installed on the M2 drive (X:). Thank you!

Yes, the basic game is less than 100 gb … but I would guess that you also have some terrains DLC, each of them have storage requirements too. For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
GeorgeSloan Posted July 17, 2023 Author Posted July 17, 2023 Wow! This games file size is getting enormous! Do you think that a larger M2 drive is the answer? What is the recommended storage size?

rob10 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Mines almost 300 GB installed (the maps are the big space hog, 300 GB doesn't include them all). But realized that it may need some extra space beyond what final installed size is to temporarily stash stuff while updating/installing the game.
Rudel_chw Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 I have DCS on the same drive as Windows and a few softwares like Adobe Lightroom And Office 2013 .. that is drive C ... only 154 GB remain on it, that's why I suspect that Kola will force me to step up to a 2 TB drive, fortunately they are not very expensive, at around US$ 100 for an M2 unit. I have lots of other stuff on my other drives, my photo collection, music collection, family videos, etc. Only the C and G drives are SSD, the others are my older HDD drives.
