pcartier Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Just getting into DCS and the wonderful F15E, I am trying to figure out when I click the TPOD display it always display "TPOD -Off" What am I missing or not doing correctly? Thanks everyone.
bfr Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 (edited) The TPOD isn't automatically active. There's a 3 position switch in the rear cockpit somewhere on the left for the pod that is OFF-STANDBY-ON (much like the F18). The switch that controls the laser is next to it. If i'm cold starting I normally hop in the back and flick it to STANDBY, then have the transition between STANDBY and ON (which takes just a few seconds) mapped on my throttle. I think if you start in the air its already at STANDBY (and the laser is normally in an armed state). Edited July 17, 2023 by bfr 1

pcartier Posted July 17, 2023 Author Posted July 17, 2023 (edited) Thanks everyone, I need to hop into the WSO seat! Still learning.... btw, I thought x-plane was complicated and study level, this F15 rises above that! Edited July 17, 2023 by pcartier 2
pcartier Posted July 18, 2023 Author Posted July 18, 2023 Quick update, I found the tpod switch which was just left of the Laser switch and moved it from standby to on, but for some reason the TPOD remains off. I cycled the switch from off - standby - on but my screen displays "TPOD OFF -" weird.

That's strange, is it really "TPOD OFF-UNSTOWED" or "TPOD NRDY - " ? 1 AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8GB | 64GB G.SKILL TRIDENT Z4 neo DDR4 3600Mhz | Asus B550 TUF Plus Gaming | 2TB Aorus Gen4 TM Warthog HOTAS | TrackIR 5 | Windows 10 Home x64 | My HOTAS Profiles

I forget what the exact timings are but the transition from OFF to ON can take a few minutes to complete and you should see the messages change as GrEaSeLiTeNiN described as it starts up. STANDBY to ON should just take a few seconds. If you're still having problems even after giving it time then stick a track file up and we can maybe figure out if you're missing a step somewhere. 1
