killapoon68 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Hello I want to try and get into flying as the rio but non of my friends play dcs. I was wondering if anyone needed a RIO or could help me a bit in learning the rio roll. I'm very proficient in the front seat and have a good general knowledge of most systems.
Whistler_RIO Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Well now that we can just seamlessly jump into the backseat while flying, even in multiplayer, its become standard for advanced tomcat pilots to get to know and use the RIO seat to sort and lockup targets. you should check out a good naval squadron like CSG-8. they give you the training and weekly missions that will get you really good at either seat of the tomcat. https://www.vcsg8.com
draconus Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 RIOs are very very wanted and welcome for anyone flying MP F-14. Just ask around squads https://forum.dcs.world/forum/331-jets-squadrons/ or in MP servers you like. Now some pilot might be cautious and won't trust random guy at first as their RIO - be aware of that too - but If you say you have all the basics... You can practice most of it in SP: starting up, INS, setting NAV points, NAV fix, radar operation, IFF, LANTIRN... stuff like that.
