Red_Pilot Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 (edited) To be honest, I thought that this was some kind of misunderstanding and this "feature" would be quickly corrected. But do we really have to fly over such forests? This is nonsense for a modern map, as I think. When I see it, the only thing that reminds me of it... You know, if you do this: Then in such images you can see 3D shapes.. That's what the forest in Normandy reminds me of now. These trees are burning my eyes, Probably the situation is worsened by the fact that the texture under the trees is much lighter than the trees. Why can it be fixed by mods, but can't be fixed by developers? And by the way, why are low textures so terrible? They have the same strange repeating pattern For example, the low textures of the Mariana Islands map do not have such a pattern This Normandy map development team are real good fellows. This wonderful team has done a great job. But it is strange to see perfectly drawn plates and spoons in houses at the same time and this ancient pattern on the textures of the forest Edited August 7, 2023 by Red_Pilot 3
swartbyron Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 (edited) I've raised a similar problem with the trees here. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/325805-no-forest-substrate-textures/?do=findComment&comment=5217220 Ugra Media have done a better job with the trees on the Syra map, especially after the latest update and I find it odd Normandy 2.0 trees don't seem to be of the same standard. They just look worng. Edited August 7, 2023 by swartbyron 1
Simo Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 +1. Surprised there haven't been more reports regarding the terrible quality of Low Res terrain textures on Normandy 2. Many VR users with <24GB VRAM (myself included) struggle to maintain playable FPS with terrain textures on high. Appreciate there will be some loss of visual quality with lower Res textures, but the other maps seems to have done a much better job at implenting them without the jarring, repeating pattern 90s sim retro look. 1
