DonRumsey Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Greetings fellow aviators! Not sure where to send crash logs, but here goes. Crashes occur frequently. Thank you in advance! Don DOC |WA-509| dcs.logdcs.20230814-055759.crash NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core; 32GB RAM; 1TB HD
Flappie Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 H. Your log shows DCS could not process some F-14 livery because it had no memory left. It started here: 2023-08-14 05:57:56.390 ERROR DX11BACKEND (16940): Failed to create shader resource view for /textures/liveries/f-14b/vx-9 vandy 41 (1995)/HB_F14_EXT_03_RoughMet.dds. Reason: Not enough memory resources are available to complete this operation. 2023-08-14 05:57:56.429 ERROR DX11BACKEND (968): Failed to create shader resource view for /textures/liveries/f-14b/vx-9 vandy 41 (1995)/HB_F14_EXT_04.dds. Reason: Not enough memory resources are available to complete this operation. 2023-08-14 05:57:56.637 ERROR DX11BACKEND (968): Can't load image '/textures/liveries/f-14b/vx-9 vandy 41 (1995)/HB_F14_EXT_04_RoughMet.dds'. Reason: The request is not supported. I see you already have 32GB of RAM and a ~30GB pagefile. Try lowering some settings. Start with Preload Radius and Shadows. Also ensure your other programs don't eat too much memory while you're playing. 1 ---
DonRumsey Posted August 14, 2023 Author Posted August 14, 2023 Hey there! Thank you for the feedback! I've made the adjustments you suggested. One caveat, however, I do not own the F-14. I'm an F/A-18 (primarily) guy. (still learning the 15, but tell anyone...). I've pondering up'ing my RAM to 64... fingers crossed! Thank you again! -Don 2 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core; 32GB RAM; 1TB HD
Flappie Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 You're welcome. You don't need to own the Tomcat for the sim to load it. As long as an AI unit or another MP client uses the Tomcat, your DCS client will load the Tomcat in order to display it whenever it comes in your surroundings. Looking forward to reading your feedback. 2 ---
DonRumsey Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 Ahhh... that makes sense. Especially after reviewing the latest log... It seems that "background" issues are impacting me? I usually fly on 4YAs Caucas MP map... could that be a root cause? dcs.log NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core; 32GB RAM; 1TB HD
Flappie Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 The Caucasus map is not known to take a lot of memory compared to Syria or South Atlantic. So, maybe another software takes too much memory on your PC. When you don't run DCS, how much RAM is occupied? (you can attach a screenshot from the task manager Memory page) ---
DonRumsey Posted September 3, 2023 Author Posted September 3, 2023 (edited) I seem to be crashing more and more lately. I HAVE 32gb of RAM. Thinking about going to 64... null dcs.log Edited September 3, 2023 by DonRumsey NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core; 32GB RAM; 1TB HD
Flappie Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Hi. Please attach the latest zip file from your "Saved Games/DCS.../Logs" folder. You should try MemTest86 a go: ---
DonRumsey Posted September 12, 2023 Author Posted September 12, 2023 Hello! Sorry I've been busy with work. Here's LOG and another Memory page. I've also added 64GB; now have 80GB of RAM. No crashes -YET. I appreciate your help! Thank you! -Don DOC |WA-509| dcs.log null NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core; 32GB RAM; 1TB HD
Solution Flappie Posted September 12, 2023 Solution Posted September 12, 2023 Good! In case you get new crashes, the best thing to try is removing your "old" 32GB RAM sticks. ---
DonRumsey Posted September 14, 2023 Author Posted September 14, 2023 Howdy! I bought 2 sticks of 32. My original config was x4 8GB sticks. So I pulled 2 8s and replaced with x2 32s (total of 80). Is that not a good idea? Everything seems to be running good. I even up'd some settings. Baby steps. Cheers! NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core; 32GB RAM; 1TB HD

You initially wrote "added" not replaced. @Flappie is just making sure, you're good though! 1
